The Race is a half marathon weekend event presented by the Unity Collective. We are committed to delivering a top-notch road race that comes out of the gate with excellence at every step, and we are looking for your backing to help bring the vision to fruition.
The Unity Collective is intentional about ensuring that this event is created by and catered towards the African-American community. In order to do that, we will need YOUR support.
We are asking that you join in on history as we break new ground in the black running community. Pledge options start at the $25 level of support and pledges at the $75 level and above include entry into what is sure to be a monumental inaugural event.

The Race will positively impact the community in the following manner:
A portion of every race registration fee will be given directly to community charities and organizations within the neighborhoods we run through.
Quarterly service projects will be organized and executed by The Unity Collective.
The community will be actively engaged in the course planning and volunteer opportunities.
The Race half marathon weekend will conclude with a Charitable Impact Service Project on Sunday, October 14th.

So why $60,000 and what will that be used for?
It will actually cost over $120,000 to put on a high-quality, half marathon weekend event for 1,000-2000+ runners. Hitting our kickstarter goal of $60,000 will essentially give us the funds to build the foundation to The Race. Our ULTIMATE goal will be for the people to 100% fund this event in it’s inaugural year. Simply put, if we are able to double our kickstarter goal at $120,000 (That's 1600 $75 Pledges) the vast majority of expenses will be covered for The Race presented by the Unity Collective. How awesome would that be??
Course security and traffic management is by far the greatest cost. We will be running through city streets of Atlanta and the safety and security of our runners will be primarily managed by off duty Atlanta Police Officers. Our good men and women in blue, unfortunately do not volunteer these hours ;). Other major expenses include your race swag, expo and event space, and staffing.
We do not want The Race entry to break your bank, however, we want to put on an amazing, professional, and sustainable race weekend that we can all be proud of and brag about how we were THERE and WE made it happen. We have valued The Race Weekend experience at $85. Those who back us during the Kickstarter campaign will register at the lowest price with exclusive perks!
Risks and challenges
The Race will be produced and directed by runningnerds, LLC a reputable and experienced road race management company based in Atlanta, GA. runningnerds, LLC is in partnership with Time Bandit Racing Co. which will serve as the official timing and scoring company for The Race.
Race permitting, start/finish location, hospitality, charity partners, and all other important logistical factors that comprise a successful and professional half marathon weekend are in queue and pending funding through this kickstarter campaign.
