Waking Dream...is done!!!
Last fall, the Waking Dream team completed the pilot episode and since then we have been immersed in following the stories of six amazing people, and their families, in this time of intense immigration politics and enforcement. Just last week, we finished the series!
The result, is a powerful and unique look at the realities that young undocumented people, are facing right now. The series in an emotional rollercoaster, portraying moments of joy, sadness, and limbo. Above all else, these stories shows the incredible tenacity, dedication, and strength of this incredible group of young people.
It has been an immense privileged to witness monumental moments in the lives of our participants. We zig-zagged across the country, from the Southernmost border in Texas, to Washington D.C., Southern Arizona, Southern California, Mexico, and back to the the Bay Area.
With your help, we landed funding for the pilot episode from ITVS in 2017 and earlier this year we secured production funding for the entire series from ITVS. Yay! For the past four months, the incredible Waking Dream Post-Production team has had our heads down editing and finishing the series, just last week, we delivered the final episodes to ITVS.
The six-part series will premiere on YouTube in late September/early October (specific release date to come) on Indie Lens Storycast, a new docu-series channel presented by the Award-winning PBS series Independent Lens.
As the premiere nears, we have put together a strategic plan for the Waking Dream Impact Campaign, which strives to engage 1.8 million people, representing the 1.8 million young undocumented people across the country. The Impact campaign will connect the powerful stories with audiences through a National screening series, digital engagement campaign on social channels, and partnerships with National organizations...we are raising funds for this impact campaign now and will send an update on the campaign in the coming weeks.
Finally, I want to thank each and every one of you for believing in this project from the start--it's more important than ever to add Waking Dream to the landscape of immigration stories, and we are more than excited to share this project with the world.
More to come soon!
