Who is the eBiz club?
We are the eBusiness Club at the University of Oregon Lundquist College of Business. The goal of our club is to provide students with hands-on experience developing all aspects of a start up business including design, production, marketing, and both online and offline sales. Through our start-up business, we would like to raise money to directly fund our club and to continue providing an educational experience for students at the University of Oregon.
What is the product?
We have created coasters in the shape of Oregon with 6 different Portland bridges laser-cut into them. We are using Red Alder coated with a water resistant stain. With the help of our kicker-starter page, we want to raise money to fund this project so we can save money to reach mass quantity discounts.
We would like to expand our brand of coasters to include other designs such as different states, magnets, key chains, and much more.
Risks and challenges
We have already contacted the wood supplier and laser cutter, so they are just waiting for us to submit our order.
One roadblock is we are transitioning our club accounts from a school trust fund to an account managed by the ASUO (Associated Students of The University of Oregon). We have been on track with our process, however with any bureaucracy there are going to be hoops to jump through until we have access to our money. They said it would be realistically 2-3 weeks from today (2/14/13). Since the club is helping to get this project off the ground, we cannot move forward until we have access to those accounts.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
