What Is This Campaign?
Hello there. We are Jonathan and Amanda Noël, singer-songwriters based in Raleigh, North Carolina. As of spring 2018, we have been writing, recording, and performing music together for 20 years! It has been an incredible ride so far and we have been blessed to work with some of the most gifted and gracious people along the way. We are celebrating our landmark year with a live, full-band, concert recording.
Why Do We Need Your Help?
We are independent artists, which means we don’t have the financial backing of a record label. Normally, when we do an indie record, we do it slowly, over time. We start it in our home studio and finish it in a professional studio. The costs are usually spread out over many months - even years, in some cases. But this live record will be totally different. The entire recording process will take place over the course of 1 week. We will begin in a rehearsal space where we’ll prepare the live concert. Then, we will perform the concert, capturing the audio. That audio will then be taken into recording studios for mixing and mastering. Instead of spreading out the cost over time, we'll be tackling it all at once.
Why A Live Recording Instead Of Another Studio Recording?
We love working in the studio. In fact, it was within the sound-treated walls of a recording studio that we met for the first time (though legend has it that Jonathan first noticed Amanda in the soup aisle at a Nashville Kroger, weeks before… but that’s a story for another time… like maybe on a live recording or something.) However, we thought it would be more fitting to celebrate our musical anniversary on stage, surrounded by some of the people who have supported and cheered us on over these past two decades, and to capture the night on tape (or digital wav files… but you get the idea).
What Are We Going To Spend The Money On?
Paying producer, musicians, and recording engineer(s)
- Equipment rental
- Basic travel and accommodation costs like flights, gas, (and maybe a few tacos.)
When Can We Hear The New Record?
We're expecting to release the live record by mid-to-late summer 2018. The pre-release will be available a bit before the hard copies are shipped. We will keep you posted with updates along the way.
Wait, Who Are Jonathan & Amanda Again?
Some people call us Jonathanda, for short. Separately, we have spent nearly three decades writing and sharing our music. Twenty years ago, our paths crossed and we began our musical journey together. We spent ten years in Nashville, Tennessee, collaborating with such artists as Fernando Ortega, Andrew Peterson, Jars of Clay, Andy Gullahorn, Ron Block, Charlie Peacock, Margaret Becker, and Kelly Minter.
A handful of our original songs made their way onto Grammy and Dove award winning albums.
Now based in Raleigh, Jonathan serves the Church full-time as a Director for Worship Arts. Amanda is homeschooling our two children (and keeping Jonathan alive with her patience and sacrificial love). We still enjoy writing, recording, and touring, while actively serving in our local church and arts communities.
What Are Other People Saying?
“I can’t imagine God not being delighted with these two. Through their life and music, Jonathan and Amanda love God and neighbor with all they are and have.” - Charlie Peacock, Producer (The Lone Bellow + Ben Rector), Artist, Songwriter (Amy Grant + Switchfoot + The Civil Wars)
“I have met few people more gifted than Jonathan and Amanda in leading people into true worship. They have a unique sensitivity to the Holy Spirit and humbly follow His lead while drawing attention to serve God and those with whom they interact.” - Doug Wilcoxson, Executive Vice President, Spring Arbor University
“I have come to know Jonathan as an artist passionately involved in the dialogue of what the Gospel can provoke us to, and how that fits into the form of music. His thirst for faith is evident through songs that combine pop sensibility with hymn-like depth.” - Dan Haseltine, Artist + Songwriter (Jars Of Clay + The Hawk In Paris)
