The Nest: Birds on Paint Chips Vol. 1 by Cecelia Wilken is an art book featuring tiny paintings of birds on, you guessed it, PAINT CHIPS!
But what is a paint chip?
Paint chip (noun): a card showing color or a range of related colors available in a type of paint.
Do you know those walls of color samples at home improvement stores? Over the last year I've collected and painted birds on them. Each tiny painting is themed based on the name of the color and features a type of bird. Any bird. ALL BIRDS. Some of the birds are serious and beautiful. Other birds are ridiculous, or creepy, or just plain cute.
If you've been following me on Instagram @yellow.bird.art, you've probably seen A LOT of my birds. You might have even adopted an original or two from me. And I'd like to thank you, so VERY MUCH for your patronage. You have motivated me to create even more BIRDS!
So what's new in this book? Can't I just see all your birds on Instagram?
NOPE! This book contains all-new, never before seen birds. This 6x9 inch book includes all the birds I've shared in the past, plus a bunch of NEW ONES! 100 birds in total! At the end of the book I've included a short tutorial on how I paint tiny and on slick paint-chip surfaces.
So why Kickstarter?
Supporting this Kickstarter is a beautiful way of helping me bring this project to life. Books are expensive to have made and I hope to use Kickstarter as a way of helping fund those upfront costs, pay for shipping, taxes and to provide you with an opportunity to adopt more fun bird products.
Which brings me to rewards!
In addition to the book, I'm offering a limited edition enamel pin, a sticker set, and canvas tote bag in celebration. These items will only be available at these discounted prices through this Kickstarter event. There are also opportunities to adopt originals and tiers with signed copies that will feature a one of a kind ink drawing on the inside.
Each reward tier includes one or more of the above rewards.
This Kickstarter only runs for 30 days! This will give me enough time to order the books, swag and other goodies, prep all the packages and then have it sent out in time for the holiday season in December.
Risks and challenges
Of course, there is always the chance that this Kickstarter won't be funded. To make sure this project gets off the ground I am setting the goal to cover the bare minimum of costs. Other risks include printing and product misprints/damages. In order to ensure products get to backers by the holiday season, I'm giving myself a few months to order and ship all the goods. If in the unfortunate and unlikely event I am unable to get the rewards out by December, I'll include extra goodies in everyone's order. Frequent emails during the entire process will go out to backers.
Any questions, comments, and concerns will be taken very seriously. I want to create beautiful products worthy of your support.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
