Sorry Nancy. Kickstarter is finished. But we are working on creating a storefront so people can order additional items. We'll let you know when it's live.

In the beginning it will only be advanced orders, as we need to make sure everyone here on KS gets their goods first!

Both actually, I'd really love to know what gear you guys took, and how it help up on the trip. Taking a camera on a multi-week trip sounds daunting, and having batteries to last that long sounds difficult.
Thanks, and I can't wait for the film, I would love to make the trip up the John Muir Trail someday, and the film will either satiate me until I do, or drive me crazy until I do.

What an experience that was! I still think daily of my time out there and can't believe I had the fantastic privilege of going. I can't wait to share your movie with all of my friends and family and hope that it will convey what I have been unable to of the heart, humor, and magnitude of the grandeur of such a magical part our country.

I am the third generation (soon to be 4'th with twin girls on the way) that have enjoyed summer after summer up in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park. As a kid I enjoyed the park, the river, fishing, campfires and ranger programs. As an adult my week or two a year escape to Kings Canyon is something I look forward to each and every year. It's a time for family, friends and to detach from our regular day to day lives and enjoy nature. Each yea I invite some friends to join in and share with them some of the areas of the national park I have long since experienced and enjoyed. I have probably only seen 10% of the park while the rest of hides in seclusion from everyone else. Sponsoring a portion of the The Muir Project will be an awesome dive into seeing and experiencing many of the distant places I have often dreamed of and hope to some day see in person.

Hi, Can't wait for the full feature documentary. I was at REI in Tustin and spoke with Jason and Jen about being able to select 2 different pledges, I have selected the $50 but I wold also like the $35 gifts...I want the movie on DVD AND music CD, cause they are both so awesome! So I bumped my pledge up to $100, the $50 + $35 and an extra $15 just cause I love what you are doing. =) I was on the JMT that year too, going over Donahue Pass in all the snow.

I am supporting this project because I'm a backpacker, but I haven't had the time yet to do a major thru-hike. One day I hope to do the JMT with my son -- he is 10 years old now. He has been backpacking for three years. The longest we have done together is 5 days, 48 miles. We hope to do the JMT some time in the next 5 years. I can't wait to see this movie because the trailer looks awesome and the people involved have a lot of character. Also because I am jealous! :-)

There is really no way to share with other people the incredible beauty of the Sierra Nevada encountered along the JMT except through a project like this one. I've been down the trail, I've taken thousands of photos, but nothing really tells the story like this project promises to. I would love to hike this trail with other people that, unfortunately, will never be able to hike it. I would love to share the beauty and experiences along this trail that is so unique to this special place. I've tried but have been unable to convey the deep sense of wonder that such a place invokes. I look to this project to provide just that - a way to convey to others things that transcend and just can't be conveyed in other ways, a way to tell a story through a shared experience, even for those that can't be there like we have.

That's why I'm supporting this project and I encourage others to do the same.

Michelle: Thank you so much for spreading the word! As Frank Grossman put it, if everyone who "liked" the REI contribution on facebook had put in $10, we'd be at goal by now. So every dollar certainly helps!

And thanks for joining us at an event - we've got another tonight and it should be a hoot.

I saw a short screening at my local Adventure 16 store in West Los Angeles and I LOVED IT!! The cover photograph was enough to grab my attention as a fellow hiking enthusiast and the title is so very clever! I laugh to myself everytime I hear that title because I know I am so very guilty of telling people coming up the mountain that very line. Doesn't hurt to give them a little inspiration? =)

The music on the top of Whitney was phenomenal. How I wish I had been there to see it. Amazing group with one of the best spirits. The timing of the hike meant that some of the most amazing scenery was captured- the snowfall that year was just out of this world. The photos and all the artistic pieces that were produced from this group show the magnificence of the route in so many angles. I love this and want to share it with so many people! Fantastic!!

So in the 8th grade I began venturing out with my friends on different outdoor trips and such. These trips started as local day trips and slowly progress outwards to multi day hiking and climbing trips within the 3 state area (Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama). My senior year in 2011 I was lucky enough to get asked on a road trip all the way to Yosemite. We took 5 days to get out there, which included an overnight stay/hike at the Grand Canyon. We made it to Yosemite and stayed there for a week or so, interestingly enough about the same time y'all started y'alls hike, and I fell in love. That trip was my first time out of the south and ever since Ive thought of nothing but ways to get back out there and specifically do the the John Muir Trail.

I came about the trailer for this movie a few months ago and I've been extremely excited about it ever since. It brings all the memories of my trip flowing back into my head. This movie gets me excited for the adventures that lie ahead of me whether in the near or distant future. It also gives me hope that there are people still that still deeply care about the nature and still strive for adventure in a world that seems to only be focused on ways to make life cheaper and more comfortable.
