Special Announcement - Issue 30 printing and Raspberry Pi Foundation!
Today (Friday 27 February) the Raspberry Pi Foundation announced on www.raspberrypi.org a new chapter in the life of The MagPi (http://www.raspberrypi.org/all-change-meet-the-new-magpi/). We are incredibly honoured that The MagPi is now the official magazine for Raspberry Pi users (www.raspberrypi.org/magpi), but more importantly that the Raspberry Pi Foundation is retaining that same MagPi spirit of community and free access to information. You will be able to buy The MagPi from Google Play and the Apple App Store, and eventually printed copies may be available in the High Street, but crucially you will always be able to download the *current* issue for FREE.
This superb news does mean that Issue 30 is the last issue that will be produced by the community of MagPi volunteers. We have therefore decided that we will also print Issue 30 and give it FREE to every backer of this Kickstarter, including the STICKER MADNESS reward*. We will also update the Volume 3 binder to include this extra issue plus the contents on the back of the binder will also include Issue 30 contents.
As Issue 30 is the last issue of the original MagPi magazine, we intend to change it for the print version only. We're not 100% sure what we will do but likely we will add a commentary from some of the volunteers on the back page. Based on the current number of backers, we will only print 500 copies of Issue 30 so this issue will become a collectible piece of Raspberry Pi history.
We are all looking forward to watch The MagPi soar higher and further and we hope that you will continue to support Russell Barnes, the new editor of The MagPi, and his team just as much as you have supported us.
Kind Regards from Ash, Will, Ian, Aaron and all of The MagPi volunteers.
* Unfortunately the free Issue 30 offer does not apply to FUZZY GLOW backers, but we very much appreciate your support.
