Gifts have shipped!

Your gifts have shipped! One or two of you should have gotten them already, but for those out there around the world, expect your gifts soon, and no later than next week.

Sadly, we miscounted shirts, and there are still 6 people waiting for shirts before we can ship their packages. But the remaining 70+ of you have already been taken care of. Keep an eye on your mailboxes for a thickly stuffed envelope with floppies.

We sent everyone floppies. Don't bother trying to use the 5.25" floppies; they're blank because we just couldn't get a machine to write those in time. HOWEVER, the 3.5" floppies are PACKED full of goodies. Be sure to load up your 3.5" disk. If you don't have a drive, we'll be posting a disk image on our Website and blog soon enough.

You should be shocked at just how much info we crammed on that 1.4 MB floppy.

Donor List is Online!

We have finally managed to get all the donor names together and pasted online. They're on the front page of our Website, and at Please let us know if we made any errors in your names. We're rounding up the final pieces of our gifts puzzle, in the form of around 20 more shirts needed to complete the orders. We expect to send out gifts within the next week.

The 3rd and Market St. tour was a lot of fun, and full of useful information for our volunteers. Photos are online at . We have about a half-and-half volunteer division between the folks who think we can afford this space and make it work, and those who think we'll need to go somewhere else that's smaller and cheaper first, then go for this 3rd and Market space after we've established ourselves.

No matter what, we're going for the 3rd and Market St. space, however. We won't know if we can afford it until we finalize the plans and take it to large corporate and individual donors. If, after a few such meetings, we determine that this is too big too soon, we'll scale things back and look for somewhere smaller. Of course, we'll still plan on aiming for 3rd and Market eventually.

One thing is for sure, the 3rd and Market st. space will need a lot of work to get into Museum shape. But with the right volunteers and the right attitude, anything is possible. We estimate, right now, we would need between $40,000 and $80,000 in additional funds to move into 3rd and Market. That's a lot of money, and we fully understand that's a gargantuan task. But we're going to give it a shot. After all, raising $20,000 from friends and strangers is a pretty big feat in itself, and ya'll helped to make that happen already!

TL;DR: we're going for 3rd and Market, will try to raise additional funds, but if it looks like that won't happen, we'll scale back and find something smaller for a fall opening.

Please send us your info

Greetings donors! So far, everyone from the $500 and $1000 level has gotten us their info. But a lot of the lower level donors have not completed their surveys yet. We need all of your info to send your gifts, and even if you donated $1, we still want you to let us know what name you'd like on our donor wall and site.

Please get us your info if you haven't already. The way Kickstarter works, it'll make our lives easier if we have everyone's info before we start stuffing envelopes.

Update on gift fullfillment

As some of you may know, Amazon EC2 (the cloud) went down last week. This occurred just as we were sending out the surveys for people to answer so they can receive their gifts.

As Kickstarter is largely hosted in Amazon EC2, you may have had trouble inputting your information. We'd like to remind everyone to go and put in their info so we can send out the gifts.

If you donated and declined the receive the gift, we'd like you to email us and tell us how you'd like your name to appear on our wall and site under the donors list.

Finally, if you've already emailed your info, or filled out a survey, you should be all taken care of. No need to do it again.

Finally, we kinda put the 3.5" versus 5.25" question into these surveys as a joke, but it's now ballooned into an attempt to put some info on said disks before we send them to you. We're still trying to make this happen, so keep your fingers crossed.

Thank You Donors!

The Kickstarter was successful!

We have to thank the tireless work of some of our volunteers: Jeffrey Malone, Krystle Ceccola, Nealon Ledbetter, Van Hu, and Amy Lukima. Their tireless efforts helped to make this fundraising effort a success.

Now, for immediate action, if you so choose to join us, we will be having our usual meeting Thursday night at 6:30 at Noisebridge, 2169 Mission St. in San Francisco. All are welcome to attend. Our immediate focus will be getting ya'll your gifts. We have money already raised elsewhere to cover this expense, so your donations are not being touched for this.

This money will remain untouched until we sign paper on the 3rd and Market St. space. We are currently unsure as to how long this process will take. But thanks to your help, we will have a lot more clout when we go and talk to corporate and private donors for the additional funds we will need for this location. We're hoping to be in there in 6 months, but we'll see if we can make it happen faster than that.

Thank you, all, for donating and believing in us. We're going to build an amazing space, and we hope to foster a fun and exciting community around us as we grow and evolve. We couldn't even begin to have thought about doing any of this without your enthusiastic help!

Thanks to all, and keep up with us at
