**NEW EXTENDED PROJECT GOAL + ADDED REWARDS**
So we're excited to announce that we have exceeded our goal of $500 to get this mural done! Thank you all very much!!
We've been discussing what to do with the funding through this kickstarter project, and have decided this is a great opportunity to launch the home:bass T-shirt line! With this line, we'll be showcasing custom artwork by Portland-based artists, helping them (and our artistic community) get more exposure worldwide.
To start things off we got
TheLostCause * RxSkulls * Deadcell84
OliveAlways * Penpointred * and Dr.Rasterbator
THANK YOU ALL AGAIN!! We can't wait to get this wall up and lookiin good! you have all made this possible :) expect some awesome photos when completed. cheers.
There is a little shop nestled in a storefront in central Northeast Portland called Home Bass (www.homebasspdx.com). Right now there is a blank wall on the side of the shop covered in decay and tagged graffiti...local artist The Lost Cause (www.facebook.com/thelostcause.va) and shop owner Penpointred want to change that! With your help in funding our supply of spray paint and other materials we want to brighten up the shop and neighborhood with a mural. The shop is home to many local artists geared towards urban/street art styles that vary all across the board from cute and fun to politically conscious. The shop not only sells toys and art but is a hub for many local musicians and artists. One of those artists is The Lost Cause. He paints bold, happy characters with spray paint often creating hand-printed stickers, prints, and shirts of them as well. His "campaign of happiness" is the theme for the mural, infusing positivity and fun into his design. "The idea is to make people laugh and smile when they see it."
Donations will fund the purchase of spray paint, bucket paint, rollers, masks, and paint trays.
We are looking to raise the funds and purchase these supplies before the weather starts to get too gloomy, giving The Lost Cause plenty of time to bring some new life to our community.
We plan to have an official celebration and "unveiling" of the finished mural during one of the upcoming monthly Art Bashes hosted at Home Bass.
Please help us with any donations and support local art!
Thanks to Penpointred for all his support in providing a space for creative minds to thrive.
Risks and challenges
The main challenges once this project is funded will be the weather and work schedules. We would like to complete the mural before the rainy season begins. The artist and shop owner are dedicated to making this a reality and once the funds are raised, they are committed to purchasing supplies and getting to work as quickly as possible. One potential challenge is the awkward stair case that might pose some logistical concerns. A special adjustable ladder may be necessary, since The Lost Cause is pretty short.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
