The Lo Frequency is more than just a dynamic 6-piece hip hop band. We are a group of musicians, educators and citizen diplomats. Over the past year, we have been able to travel the world trying to make a difference with our music.
Whenever we are approached with new opportunities [which are happening frequently] or interacting with audiences, we are inevitably faced with the question, "Where is the music?" Our response has been relegated to, "Hsss...yeah about that. We'll have to get back to you on that one." Every working band needs a professional industry level recording to represent their signature sound to the world. With the music industry in a complete state of flux, a record deal is not only less likely, but is less of a desirable option. We have to do it ourselves. We have a studio. We have plenty of music. We just need the funds to record, mix, master, package, promote and distribute an EP.
Our music is a natural mix of 6 creative energies that blend in ways that we can't even fathom or predict. These sessions feel like magic to us and bear fruit that we can't help but want to share with the world. For us, it is not about making the next big hit (although that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world), we just want to make honest music that reflects the depths of our experiences.
At the beginning of last year we had the opportunity to participate in the Rhythm Road program with Jazz at Lincoln Center. It was a whirlwind tour through Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. We performed at major venues, taught workshops on the history of hop hop music and culture, conducted master classes, collaborated with local hip hop artists and engaged in media outreach. This program culminated in two stateside performances, at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola and The National Geographic Society, as well as a feature on CBS Sunday Morning. The experience of interacting with people all over the world inspired us to use our music and the unique powers of hip hop music and culture to unify those around the world who share in this common tradition. The accolades received and the buzz generated got us invited back to Beirut, Lebanon for a two month artist residency where we developed our cultural exchange program called the International Hip Hop Academy.
By supporting this project you are not only helping an up and coming band take its career to the next level, you are making it possible for us to continue breaking barriers and bridging gaps among people of the world.

Believe it or not, the amount of money we are trying to raise here is the bare bones minimum needed to create a professional recording at the level we are striving for. At the same time, if we set our goal too high and do not reach it in the allotted time, we get nothing. All funds generated from your generous donations will be used towards the creation of the EP. The more funds you donate, the higher the quality of the product and the farther the reach of the music.
Spreading the word to all your contacts is also an invaluable way to help! You can post our link on all your social networking sites or just hype it up to friends, family and neighbors. We love connecting with new people!
Thank you in advance for your support.
