My name is Matt Ley - animator, filmmaker, and Time Magazine's Person of the Year 2006.
I've been creating things for as long as I can remember, but a lot of it was garbage because I was a child for like more than half of my life. I'd say stuff only actually started getting good like three years ago. You can check out my channel here to watch some of my previous films and cartoons! Please don't watch the bad ones though.
I'm nearing the end of my film course at university, and apparently that means I have to make a film. Unfortunately, unlike paperclips, Chicken McNuggets and Your Mum, films aren't always cheap. They are in fact, much like diamonds, really old alcohol, Your Dad and for some reason cashew nuts, actually quite expensive. I'd very much like your help bringing this one to life!
Ghost to Ghost is a short comedy drama following Kat - a university drop-out who's recently moved back to live with her newly-divorced father Rhys. Rhys just happens to be a freelance ghost hunter, and together the two must come to terms with their newly disrupted familial arrangement, all the while trying not to get all goofed up by a big spooky demon, as well as Rhys' ex-wife.
"Riveting stuff!" - Me
"Can you stop pissing about on Kickstarter and write the second draft please?" - My tutors
"Pure cinematic excellence!" - Mark Kermode (probably, at some point, not necessarily about this film)
The film is shooting around the end of April, with completion slated for early June. It won't be coming to YouTube for quite some time as we plan to submit it to a number of film festivals, however, you'll be able to watch it early if you pledge the right amount!
We have a fantastic team of filmmakers on board, as well as some truly wonderful actors, and a quite frankly upsettingly handsome director. It's almost too good to be true. Click the peeps to see some of their work!

On a personal note, I am extremely excited to get started on this film - it's been cooking up for some time now and to finally get the wheels in motion is as thrilling as it is daunting. Three years of university and honing my craft will be going into this, so I want to make it as incredible as it can be. Any support you lovely lot can provide, either via donations or just sharing the project around, would honestly mean the world to me. For those of you who know me from YouTube or my other personal works, and have stuck with me through terrible upload schedules and all my other rubbish, I want to say a very heartfelt thank you. After this film, and beyond my graduation, I plan to put much more time into creating things for myself and for you guys, as I feel I've neglected that for some time now.
Thank you for reading all of this. To all of you, long-term supporters or fresh new faces, you have my most sincere thanks. Let's make a dope-ass film ☠️
Risks and challenges
Obviously any film can come with its fair share of risks. We're working hard to combat the likeliness of any of these, but just to make sure everything is clear and open, here are some of the challenges we might face:
Weather issues, illness of any cast/crew members, unforeseen location troubles.
Also, this is our first crowdfunding campaign, so there will naturally be a slight learning curve, but it is being run with precision and care to ensure nothing goes wrong!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
