GROWING UP IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF THE ADVENTURE.
THE NEW ADVENTURES OF PETER AND WENDY
“The New Adventures of Peter and Wendy” is a modern adaptation of the timeless novel “Peter and Wendy”, by J.M. Barrie It will be told in a twice-weekly web series consisting of 24 episodes with some interactive transmedia elements that will be fun for the whole family… or anyone who likes romantic comedies… or Peter Pan and Tinkerbell.
Our adaptation of his novel takes place in Neverland, Ohio, a town where nothing and no one ever really change. Peter Pan is a late 20-something-slacker-man-child who would rather play video games and make art instead of paying the bills. Growing up to him is just this dark, overwhelming shadow. Wendy, on the other hand, is a motivated go-getter of an advice columnist who wants to move away to the Big City and make a name for herself. Their will-they-won’t-they vibe is put to the test because we all have to grow up sometime… right?

We will be adding cast and crew over the coming months, letting you know along the way. In the meantime, here are the three musketeers:

He recently moved from New York, where he produced indie Theater and experimental shorts for the past decade.
WHEN IS THIS HAPPENING?
2014 is the year of “The New Adventures of Peter and Wendy”. Once we have funding we will spend January rounding out our cast and crew. February will be our pre-production phase (final script tweaks, location set up, rehearsals and more!) March is filming (this part is the most fun). April is editing everything into a magical package. Late April/early May will be the launch of the first 3-4 minute episode online, just in time for J.M. Barrie’s 154th birthday (He wrote the original “Peter and Wendy”). Season one of “The New Adventures of Peter and Wendy” will then run twice a week for 24 episodes. During the run of season one, our transmedia elements will be in full effect.
TRANSMEDIA? WHAT THE...?
Transmedia storytelling basically means that you can enjoy the full story through our videos, but if you want to get deeper into the lives of our characters, you can follow them in other mediums, such as twitter, instagram and friendster… We will probably skip friendster this time around.
For example, one of our fun transmedia experiments called “Peter’s Panels”. In the story, Peter Pan works as an illustrator for the local newspaper. This is where, escaping into his imagination, he battles space pirates and evil IRS agents of doom. The day after every episode airs, a “Peter’s Panel” will be released online, giving a peek into Peter’s psyche and deepening his reactions to the drama of the web series.
We will also be expanding the story with conversations between the character’s twitter accounts as well as samples from The Kensington Chronicle (the local newspaper in Neverland, OH).
WHERE IS ALL THE MONEY GOING?
It ends up taking more money than one would expect to film and produce a quality web series.
With the help of your donations, we will be able to fully fund the first season. Here’s a breakdown of what your donations will get us:
- $25 - Some snacks for set, yum!
- $45 - Props for a day of filming
- $85 - Costumes for one of the characters
- $145 - Set Dressings for one of our locations
- $300 - Meals for a day of our shoot (feeding up to 14 people!)
- $500 - Sound, Lighting or Camera equipment rental
- $1000 - Help hiring a talented cast and crew
SO HOW DOES KICKSTARTER WORK?
Kickstarter is an amazing tool that helps crowdfund amazing projects made by creative people that normally wouldn’t be able to afford the light of day. The beauty of it: You get the joy of helping someone out… plus you get a bunch of cool goodies! Our project has a goal and a deadline. If we don’t meet the goal in time, you are not charged for your donation.
What happens if the money isn't raised in time? You won’t be charged. Peter Pan doesn’t do a happy dance. “The New Adventures of Peter and Wendy” will then enter an unknown state of “will it ever get made?”
Can we exceed the goal? Heck yeah! Every penny will go to making the show that much better. We have place for a second and third season… just saying!
After I back the project, when will I receive my goodies? Every backer will begin receiving exclusive updates immediately after the fundraising period has ended. Most of the other goods will be shipped by the end of July 2014. So then it just depends on the speed of the Postal Service.
Is my pledge amount publicly displayed? Nope!
If I'm not in the US, can I still back the project? You bet! That would be lovely. For some of the rewards, we will be mailing physical goods. Those reward levels require an extra shipping fee for outside of the US (see each reward level)
