Help Fund The Kindness Effect Pilot
Blue Truck Media, Inc. is turning the concept of hidden-camera television upside down and bringing a new reality program to television.
The Kindness Effect is a 30-minute, hidden camera, reality program with a unique twist. Similar in format to programs like Candid Camera, Betty White's Off Their Rockers, and Punk’d with on major difference. Rather than playing practical jokes on people, this fun and entertaining series will "prank" (aka surprise) people with random acts of kindness and change lives along the way.
Our crew of sneaky do-gooders, anonymous angels and stealth crew travel the globe performing secretive random acts of kindness and pulling funny and heartwarming "pranks" on an unsuspecting cast of characters; real people who are the lucky beneficiaries of our good deeds. Here is a sneak preview that proves one simple act of kindness spreads a lot of joy!
Not only does the show promote a socially conscience message, scientific evidence proves that kindness has tremendous health benefits. Kindness has the ability to alleviate sadness, reduce stress, boost the immune system, improve cardiac health, and provide other measurable health benefits. Allan Luks, researcher and author of "The Healing Power of Doing Good" explains in this brief video.
About the Show Format
In this half-hour, family-centric series we will bring the audience one “Main Act” wrapped by a series of small, “Random Prank Scenes.” The good deeds we extend will be both big and small and will be presented in some very eye-catching and unusual ways. You never know when or where one of our secret angels or hidden-camera crew will strike for good.
The Kindness Effect encourages the audience participation. For the Main Act, viewers are invited to submit their letters and homemade videotapes outlining their “Good Idea” for pranking someone for good. The concept must meet with one criterion – it must be an act of kindness anonymously directed to help someone in need. Our staff scours the letters and taped requests to choose the Main Act and theme for each week’s episode. Then, we help that chosen viewer secretively make the kind wish come true!
Countless ideas are already pouring in - from delivering bulletproof vests to a police department, to paying for a funeral service, to helping a struggling artist set up an art show, to providing relief to victims of natural disasters, to helping an elderly woman afford her medications, to sending a group of foster children to Disney World.
Learn more about how to get involved or how to submit an idea on our website.
A Good Program Worth Backing - The Budget
The budget will go toward producing the pilot program which includes gifting many people with random acts of kindness including at least one significant life-changing "prank" for the main act.
In order to craft a network quality, hidden-camera program the production will require multiple cameras and a host of crew, talent, extras, and locations. Our goal is to create a primetime-worthy television series that draws an international audience in order to promote kindness on a large scale. In order to do so, we will need a healthy budget to cover the good deeds as well as production and marketing costs. Currently, we are working with a small team of kind production volunteers, but to move forward we will need additional crew, equipment, and resources.
Importantly, a significant part of the budget will be given away - in the form of gifts - to the recipients of the good deeds. The more funds we raise, the bigger, better, and more eye-catching "pranks" and random acts of kindness we can pull off. Imagine the significant and life-changing "pranks" we will be able to grant if we exceed our budget.
You can help by donating to the Kickstarter Campaign and interacting with us on Twitter and Facebook. Every dollar, fan, follower, like, share and comment we receive helps in gaining the attention of network executives and in bringing the show to the airwaves. So, spread the word of The Kindness Effect to your family and friends.
By supporting The Kindness Effect, you will feel proud knowing that you are helping to spread kindness and effecting change in the world while creating a program that is actually good for you to watch. Allan Luks, researcher and author of "The Healing Power of Doing Good" explains in this brief video.
As part of our effort to promote random acts of kindness we kicked our campaign off on World Kindness Day. We are planning to shoot our pilot scenes during Random Acts of Kindness Week and reach other milestones follows.

Risks and challenges
The most interesting challenge we face is surprising people with kindness in a skeptical world. Will strangers accept our kind acts at face value or will they shy away in skepticism? Either way, it will be an interesting study in human behavior and kindness. "The Blue Crew" will capture it all on tape for you to see. Our hope is that the "pranks" will uplift and inspire a global audience.
"The Blue Crew" is comprised of some of the most talented and professional production gurus in the business. Our team is uniquely equipped to bring the production to the screen on time and within budget. With a wealth of experience in the tv/film industry and in producing corporate programming for outside clients, we know the importance of meeting deadlines and delivering a polished, professional program to our customers. As "Backers" of our program, you are our clients. We hold the same commitment to you. We will send periodic Program Updates throughout production phase to make sure you are aware of our progress. Not only are you a supporter, you are our audience. We look forward to hearing from you. Should there be any unforeseen delays, you will be readily informed along with key communication throughout the process.
