An exciting update from THE KIDS!
Dearest KIDS backers & community!
It's been a year since we achieved our campaign goal for "The Kids" documentary film, a victory that would have been impossible without your help.
We reach out today with an exciting update, amidst what we recognize is an enormous week in the United States and worldwide. We hope that today's update can act as a reminder for what it means to come together and share all of our stories and truths.
Since last year, we shot several fresh interviews, including an awesome one with Leo Fitzpartick, aka Telly. We acquired and digitized loads of archival photos and footage, including skate videographer RB Umali‘s complete 1990's NYC skate archive, which is vast. We've also been diligently working on the story, as this too continues to evolve.
Most importantly, we have brought an established director on board to help us complete this project in a timely manner. We are honored and humbled to have Australian-based director and visionary Eddie Martin, whose work includes All This Mayhem (2014), Lionel (2008), and Jisoe (2005), on our team.
Recognizing our own limitations as first-time filmmakers, and with a profound desire to blend Hamilton’s vision for the project with the tremendous expertise necessary to effectively translate that vision to the screen, we are thrilled to bring on a director we admire and trust, who understands this story, will approach the project with sensitivity, and has a deep respect for our community.
Let's raise a toast to one year in the making. Larry Clark's "Kids" took four years to complete. Anything worth something needs and deserves the essence of time.
Thanks again for supporting us. We are on this journey together.
With huge gratitude and heart,
