For those of you new to the Anathema game, check out the video for the first kickstarter to learn all about the story, as well as a little bit of background info on me!
And here's a link to the five page preview of issue #1:
"Anathema promises to be a terrific series. I’ll be there for all six issues that are currently planned, and (one hopes) the many additional stories to follow." - Bill Willingham, Eisner award winning author of Fables
"Visceral horror that merges the grotesque with the classic Hammer feel. Epicly fun and disturbing." - Joshua Hale Fialkov, Eisner nominated writer of Echoes, Tumor, and I,Vampire
"Rachel Deering's first full length comic reads like the work of a seasoned pro. I was instantly hooked. I will be following her career closely." - Mark Poulton writer of Savage Hawkman, Avengelyne, and A Cat Named Haiku
"If you enjoy dark horror tales, lesbians, demons, witches, or werewolves, I'd advise you to check this one out as soon as possible. This book is sort of like if Edgar Allen Poe were a riotgrrl." - Geektress.com
"This is exactly what I love about horror and werewolves." -Werewolf-News.com
Anathema is a six issue limited series horror comic that tells the story of Mercy Barlowe, a tormented young woman with a dark side. She must fight through treacherous lands and unspeakable horrors to reclaim her lover's soul, which has been stolen by members of a sinister cult, bent on resurrecting a terrible and ancient evil.
In issue #1, we saw Mercy's world torn asunder, and watched as she accepted the curse of the wolf. Can Mercy learn to harness her horrible new powers and stop the raven cult before they succeed in their vile plan? Mercy needs your help to see her journey through!
The first Anathema kickstarter was an overwhelming success thanks to the support of people like you! Now that Anathema has found a publishing home with ComixTribe, I hope to raise the funds necessary to complete the remaining 5 issues in the series! I'm asking for $20,000 to cover the cost of paying my amazing artist and colorist. All money goes to them, less Amazon and Kickstarter fees, and I don't keep a dime for myself...UNLESS!!
Anything I raise above and beyond the goal amount will go toward getting me out to conventions this year. This will help me to be able to promote and sell Anathema to a wider audience. I love interacting with comic fans, signing merchandise, and being able to network with other comic professionals! The convention experience is a MUST for all creators in the comics industry if they hope to establish themselves.
5% of profits received above and beyond my goal amount will go toward helping fund other great kickstarter projects!
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
