Last month some Grinch stole all of our gear. Now we're asking friends and fans to lend a hand towards recovering a portion of it.
The Heyday has been a band since May of 2006, doing what we love: writing songs, recording albums, and performing music for friends, family, and fans alike. We've toured all across the country, playing shows from small clubs in Seattle to festivals in Florida.
Last month, right before Christmas, some Grinch (as we've been referring to him, or them) broke into our van after we had played a concert in downtown Denver and stole all of our equipment. Drums, guitars, amps, pedals, cables, you name it. We've all heard horror stories about bands getting robbed, but you somehow never think it's going to happen to you. This is a very tough situation for a band to overcome. Musicians work very hard, not always for the best pay, and their instruments are their livelihood.
We've had a ton of support from the Denver music community through all of this, and we've been able to borrow some equipment to get by thus far. We are very fortunate to have fans and friends outside of our home state, and many have been asking how they can help. Our total losses were far greater than the $3,000 goal we have set up through Kickstarter, but we wanted to set up a reasonable goal for our fans to help us meet, something we all believe in that we can accomplish. The outreach has been wonderful, and we feel that the Kickstarter format provides the most organized avenue for everyone to donate, if they'd like, and help us get back on our feet.
In short, we don't want to beg, so this is a very achievable goal for those who want to offer their financial support. We may not ever catch The Grinch, but with a little help we can get back on stage and show that we're still in this thing!
Thank you all for your support. You mean the world to us.
Peter and The Heyday.
