Why a journal in a world where everyone uses their phones?
We know ourselves well enough to know this: if it isn’t written, it isn’t real.
In an age where everything we do is on our devices, writing things down breaks the pattern, and increases retention. Additionally, there is inherent accountability in reading aspirations for your future written in your own handwriting.
Why are the daily pages undated?
One of our aims with this journal was to minimize the pressure that is put on the end user to live a perfectly planned life. We've seen enough to know that people fall off the horse often due to sickness, stress, or vacation. Just like any good story, we know setbacks are part of the journey. Progress > Perfection.
Daily Page Breakdown:
How do I specify which color journal I want?
Once our campaign closes we will send our a questionnaire via email where you will specify the color you desire. If we receive no response from the questionnaire, we will choose a color for you. 😊
How long is the journal?
The journal has 90 daily pages. We wanted to give end users a finish line that wasn't too overwhelmingly far off.
What material(s) is the journal made of?
We wanted to make a Journal designed to inspire every hero and manufactured to withstand any journey. So we partnered with a world-class manufacturer to create a durable linen-covered A5 journal with 224 pages of 110 gsm Ivory no-bleed paper.
How do I get started?
You will complete a Quest assessment before you begin the daily pages. There are 4 stages:
1) Call to Adventure - Mapping out your quest through the use of OKRs (as seen in Measure What Matters by John Doerr)
2) Rejection of the Call - Assessing the risks your quest through the use of Fear Setting (introduced by Tim Ferris)
3) Allies and Enemies - Sorting out what will aid your quest, and what will hinder your quest.
4) Mapping the Journey & Accepting the Quest - Outlining a typical day on your adventure and signing on the dotted line to accept your quest.
Why should I buy this journal?
If you are like us, always trying to be more productive, but also looking for your productivity to have additional meaning.
This is only the beginning...
If we are luckily enough to have your support, we'd love to eventually expand and release more options of the journal. We'd keep the same tried and true story method and productivity components, but bring a change to the aesthetics of the journal. We'd love to introduce The Hero's Journal to other story genres like ScFi, Western, High-Seas, and so on.
Risks and challenges
Obviously, there is always a risk in running a Kickstarter campaign. If we don't hit our funding goal, we will not receive any backer support. Fingers crossed! Because Nick and Kyle both work full time and will be shipping all orders, our biggest fear is shipping journals out late to our backers. As those of you who live internationally may know, shipping isn't cheap. Kickstarter places the cost of shipping on the backers, and for those outside the US, costs will reflect that.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
