Frequently Asked Questions
The game may certainly be played solo. You could play it in a variety of ways, but I would recommend that if playing solo you should control a few characters.
By doing so, you can control a ‘team’ of players in escaping the dungeon and get the full experience of the discovery deck and collaborative mechanics.Last updated:
Yes, we are based out of the USA; however, our manufacturer is located in Asia.
As such, we will deliver products to a fulfillment center outside of the Americas.
As international rates differ and might include additional duties, we will need to recover freight costs based on actual costs, but I will ensure the lowest possible costs are transferred to our backers.
Update [4/13/2020]: For international backers (outside of US/CA/MX), we will offer a subsidy of $10 USD/unit for pledges for the base game + all expansions as a way to show our appreciation for our international backers.
Your shipping estimate at the $39 reward tier will cover your shipping. Board games are generally Duty-Free, but there are certain taxes that will require additional payments that we will need to collect for taxes.
Please note, pledge levels below the $39 pledge level will require actual shipping costs for our international supporters.
Allow us to subsidize your shipping and provide you with the expansions for a full experience by pledging at the base game & both expansions level!

If I may address some of your concerns (and perhaps convert you into joining our cause), I can 100% assure you that I have my figures and business side fully controlled. While this has been a very exciting project for me, it certainly doesn't pay the bills. My career has been in manufacturing consulting, with a focus on Business Administration for the last 15 years and I have performed all the necessary research to ensure a proper delivery of the product.
The international shipping was a slight curve-ball, but nothing that hasn't been resolved. I intend on warehousing the inventory for the minimum order quantity with a local Amazon fulfillment center, who will also handle the distribution in the Americas. Since seeing the international interest, I am already in the process of organizing fulfillment services in Asia, nearby the manufacturer. This will allow me to save costs on the containers traveling across the pond and also provide great parcel rates with China Post.
For Amazon FBA, I will be using our website [in development] and the payment gateway 3dCart's Multi-Channel Fulfillment API to communicate the shipping details in North America. For international we may take less sophisticated, yet equally effective approach.
Regarding the target goal. While the target might appear marginally high, in order to offer the product within comparable price ranges for games in its class, I need to ensure certain economies of scale. The target would consume 75% of the total volume at the base game.
In regards to the expansions, I will need to continue to engage my fantastic artist, who is enjoying a good clip of funds from the last year. As I noted in the campaign, this will be roughly break-even at the target level.
Related to further information regarding providing confidence in delivery and execution, I have already firmed up with a printer who unfortunately has been affected by the virus overseas, and was delayed earlier by the Chinese New Year (I wish the folks enduring that hardship all the best and by no means am I complaining).
All our print files have been reviewed and aligned and the short run (24 copies) is due by March 10th. This carries a high cost, but with overseas printers, I need to personally validate the quality.
I had reached out to 15 suppliers, some had better quotes, but couldn't vouch their quality. Others had higher quotes and I still wasn't sure about them, as they were brokers, not manufactures. In the end, I selected Whatz Games and will only diverge if I find the short run quality sub-standard, but I have no reason to be concerned of that.
Further, I have already engaged an import broker and have arranged all the required import paperwork with US Customs. This can certainly be a challenge for most independent starters, but I have a background in this and we are ready to receive the goods from the port and ship directly to our Amazon FBA in North Carolina.
It is imported into NC for a couple of reasons. Chiefly, I can go to the warehouse and inspect the shipment, Further, there were recent sales tax common law changes with the South Dakota vs Wayfair ruling. Under this ruling, anywhere there is NEXUS, one must file and capture state sales tax, in addition to municipalities sales taxes. Nexus is created in multiple ways, but having a physical operation in the state is an immediate flag.
Fulfillment in the US is included in the reward. This means that I am effectively distributing the game to our backers at a low margin. Costs to ship to the UK are estimated around $24, but that is a hefty price and I can provide subsidies to the backers overseas by using overseas fulfillment.
I am certain I will experience other curve-balls in this process, but I am well equipped to handle them. The hard parts are already accounted for.
I hope this has helped alleviate the concerns of our backers.
Hi all our Canadian backers. A recent question came in regarding duties and taxes.
Here is a simple estimator tool to confirm you will not be responsible for heavy fees.
The product falls under ‘Toys’ -> ‘Board Games/Puzzles’
If you put this information in and select your location, then you can see the duty is free, but the taxes range from $2.50-$6.50 on $50.
I intend to help offset these costs to the best extent possible, which is why shipping is so low.
Shipping costs in actual are approximately $17.50 to CA. I am subsidizing some of these costs already.
Hi all, the game components will be upgraded per our stretch goals to:
