About
Welcome to my Kickstarter page! My name is Jehanne, I am a graphic designer living in Paris. I used to be a tarot reader when I was a student and from that experience came my desire to design my own deck.

THE DECK
The Great Lines is a 78-card tarot deck (22 major arcanas and 56 minors) coming showcased in a two-piece tarot box and accompanied a booklet offering guidance as you delve deeper into this unique deck of cards. The box and both sides of the cards will be black and stamped with gold foil. The edge will be black in color. The cards will measure 2.75" x 4.75", printed on 310 gsm black-core stock and very particular attention has been taken to get the most durable and quality materials.
The Hamsa hand is the only represented symbol on all cards and it infused to each one its meaning and all of its complecity represented with it To See With Your Heart, illustrated by the eye and the open hand. This hand is also related to something I learned growing up in a Franco-Moroccan family. Each figure is made of a geometric pattern in order to elicit a hypnotic effect. Designed to be an intuitive tool, abstraction and geometry help usher your most immediate thoughts into a slightly modified state of consciousness.
All the figures are mainly inspired by le Tarot de Marseille.
Abstraction: By reading pictures, the biggest lesson I understood is that the only thing you need is to describe what you see. The answer is necessarily coming in your mouth because you can't access to something you don't have already inside of you. The strength of a desire can distort a description, especially if the picture shows a scene. If the picture is abstract your point of reference will be your feelings, or inner impressions and that is what you will describe, and from there find an answer.
You can read each card with the classical interpretation you find in books. The most interesting thing to do with this deck is to stare at each card as far as a story comes to your mind. The hypnotic effect is really effective.
Inspiration: I have been really inspired by the majority of the Carlos Castaneda’s novels, especially by Don Juan the main character. I love the I Ching, and this is the object I study the most. An Advanced I Ching reader is able to get an answer by reading the hexagram only. For me that is the ultimate goal, and you can see that in my work. I am really into Neuro Linguistic Programming, and I read a lot about Carl Gustave Jung.

Cups are represented by two hands opened as a fan in a receptive position. As emotion tend tends to fluctuate up and down, so does this lively pattern of hands, up and down.
Pentacles appear as radiant circles made from the overlapping of hand palms. The whole suit shows the ascendant movement which defines the meaning of this series.
Swords show slightly more sharpened shapes to represent the cutting edge of a blade. The wands have a softer more wavy aspect. For both suits the movement is the same with a reducing energy for the first, and expanding energy for the second.

This is a fully illustrated tarot deck complete with all 78 cards. It took a year to complete them all. If you'd like to take a closer look, you can find more images on Behance, Instagram, and Pinterest. There is more artwork below too.

The funds raised by this campaign will be applied toward printing, packaging, and shipping the initial print run, and also to hire a translator for the booklet. I am currently aiming to have the decks ready to ship by May 2018.
THE OTHER REWARD

The notebook, size 5,83" x 8,27", will have 40 ruled pages of a smooth cream paper and a soft matte black cover. 3 designs will be chosen by YOU and printed in gold.

YOU will choose the 3 designs I will print on these 3 notebook series. How? I have posted a pre-selection of 9 major arcanas on my Instagram, and Facebook page, in which you will be able to select (by liking) which 3 designs.

Risks and challenges
The launching of The Great Lines tarot project is the very first step of a larger project. The biggest setback would be not to raise enough funding to successfully print this tarot deck in the next few months, which would extend the amount of time needed to develop the Great Lines universe.
Even if this is my first Kickstarter, many aspect of this project reveal that this campaign remains low risk for backers. I have already completed all of the artwork and have issued a prototype deck meeting the standards and specification detailled in this campaign.
