My name is Gill. I am a writer and since adopting a vegan, plant-based diet rich in raw whole-foods, not only am I healthier than I have ever been but I have met many amazing people for whom this way of living has opened up a route to powerful, natural healing and ongoing health.

I know that I am not alone in wanting to honour myself and Mother Earth by living in a peaceful way that is considerate to all beings. My hope is that this book will help people who share my beliefs to spread uplifting, powerful messages of health and happiness with the next generation.

THE GIRL:

Some time ago I met (some would say 'created') Sofiel. Like me, she sees the world as a rich, beautiful tapestry of interconnecting stories. One day, she jumped off a blank page and told me hers.

Sofiel has a special gift. She can see the story of every being and every object she looks at. If she looks at an old suitcase, she can see every item it ever carried. If someone cycles past her on a bike she can see every journey they ever took and if she met you, your life story would open up to her like the pages of a book. One day she looked down at the food she was eating and she saw its past. From that moment on, she chose to only feed her tummy with happy stories.

'Once, there was a girl who could see stories. Everything has a story. Every person, every object and even every smell has a past, a place where it began and a journey that lead to where it is today. The girl called Sofiel could see them all.'

- The opening page of The Girl Who Could See Stories

THE BOOK:

The book has been written, edited and read by teachers, parents and children. I thank everyone that has assisted so far for their contributions. Feedback tells me that it is a great way to introduce children to the concept of ethical living as well as the perfect way to teach your child about where food comes from, regardless of your diet and lifestyle.

The story is suitable for ages 4 and over. I am also working with Ilan Sheady – our talented illustrator – so the completed picture book will be fun and stimulating for younger children too. Sofiel's little dog follows her everywhere and readers can make a game of finding her on every page, along with other recurring items.

On the surface this is a beautifully illustrated story and a nice way to pass a few minutes with your child but, if you want it to be, it is also an introduction to important subjects that could shape the way they view our wonderful world.

'In time, she didn't just see the stories that her food told her, she began to feel them too. She realised that the stories of happy foods didn't end as they went into her body. Instead, they became the energy she needed to create her own story.'

WHERE WE'RE UP TO & WHAT WE NEED:

You can see from the artwork on this page that Ilan has already worked hard to bring the girl, her dad, her dog and other characters to life. For my part, I have researched and redrafted with the help of teachers, parents, children and editors. I have also sourced a local, vegan printing company and obtained a price for them to produce the first edition as a high spec, A4 landscape, softcover.

I have set the intention, I have the team, the network and, between us, we have the skills to get The Girl Who Could See Stories out into the world via by the end of 2014. All we need is a relatively small amount of money, pledged by people who believe in what we are trying to achieve.

This money will pay Ilan a small amount for his valuable time and efforts. It will also pay for an ISBN number, for printing, for some great rewards and, if we raise enough, it will assist in publicising the project world wide.

Thank you so much for reading. If you are able to, please go that small step further to share the project with your network and back the campaign. You will be helping to spread an important message of health, peace and positivity!

Risks and challenges

There is a chance that we could run into obstacles, of course, but we think positive so we get positivity back from the Universe in return. The bad things just won't happen :)

The book has already been written and edited. Gill has established and edited several magazines in the past, so pulling together a team, working to deadlines and producing high quality published material is safe ground for her. Ilan runs a successful illustration and animation studio so, likewise, he knows his stuff and they are both committed to the project. A printing price has been obtained from Vegan Print and a bit of time and effort is all that is required.

The estimated delivery dates shouldn't be a problem - we hope to have your rewards to you in time for Christmas - but if they absolutely have to change for any reason, backers of the project will be informed right away.

So why not go ahead and back the project? If you have any reservations don't hesitate to contact Gill.
