My name is Steve Cypert and I am the author of Scapemaker, a young adult paranormal fantasy. I am also an award-winning semi-professional photographer. I have been: vice-president over activities at LDS Business College and the mascot for the Stingers (currently the Bee’s), our local AAA baseball team. I graduated with a BS degree from the University of Utah. I am an Eagle Scout; father of a very cute 21 month old boy; and husband to a beautiful wife. But, from kindergarten through most of my grade school years—I was bullied and I remember every moment. My heart goes out to anyone being bullied and to those too ignorant to realize they are bullying. We need to teach our younger children, collectively, about bullying—what it is, what it does, who it hurts. To that end, I have written a children's book entitled Biggle and Bee.
This story follows Biggle, a young groundhog, and Bee, a newly hatched gosling. Biggle is bullied by a couple of geese, who soon lose one of their eggs to a fox. Soon after, Biggle’s mama is taken away by an eagle. Biggle must now find his own food. In so doing, he discovers the stolen goose egg, which soon hatches. Biggle, who has previously been bullied by the geese, decides to help bring the little gosling home. But do to some mean animals in the wild, Biggle and Bee lose their way. Now, Biggle must find a way home, while protecting the little gosling. Along the way, Biggle changes hearts, but also learns that he must change his own judgmental thoughts. “Biggle and Bee” is a heartfelt story, written especially for children. With non-stop movement, there won’t be any laps in attention. With 30 pages in all, this book is NOT broken into chapters, but days of the week. The story begins on Monday and ends on Saturday, perfect for reading to your child nightly until the story is complete. Each day of the week end with a bit of closure, while Biggle and Bee sleep for the night. Biggle learns what a bully is as well as what it is to be a bully. He learns about friendship and standing up for those who can’t stand up for themselves. He learns the difference between courage and cowardice. All this is taught in simplicity, love, and in a way that children, as well as adults can understand.
Biggle and Bee has been rewritten and needs to be professionally edited. It also needs a new cover, which is currently being sketched and illustrated. In order to be reviewed and get the word out, I need prints. Here is the breakdown of the costs:
$1000 – Illustrations I have commissioned Andrea Cypert to illustrate Biggle and Bee. Her last illustrated works have been featured in “Flat Dog”, an irreverent, dark-humored children’s(ish) book written by Richard McIntyre. She will also be hand drawing illustrations specifically to be given as rewards.
$300 – Professional Edit
$450 – Paperback prints for local and internet marketing
TOTAL ASKING: $1,750
Here is a peek at the characters in Biggle and Bee:
If the goal is exceeded by $500, Biggle and Bee will be translated into Spanish.
If the goal is reached and then passed, I plan to write a series of Biggle and Bee books targeting specific issues relevant for our children today. The following book is already being pieced together:
The following ideas are currently being looked into and will most likely be a topic, if not, a sub-topic:
(vegies, being sick, and allergies)
(meet Punxsutawney Phil)
All books will be 30 pages or close to 30 pages, formatted in the same fashion as the original.
I will reward the following items to everyone pledging $25 or greater in addition to those being offered if the following stretch goal amounts are reached:
$2,500 – An ebook of every book in the series as they come out
$3,000 – A signed print of every cover in the series as they come out
$3,500 – A signed paperback copy of "Biggle and Bee’s Christmas Story" (a story of giving, forgiveness, and saving Santa Clause) when it comes out Christmas 2014
$5,000 – A signed paperback of the first 4 Biggle and Bee books as they come out (including "Biggle and Bee's Christmas Story")
7,500 – A signed Biggle and Bee memory card game (Possibly created through the Game Crafter)
Thank you so much for taking the time to view the Biggle and Bee project. I can't wait to see this project become successful through your help. Without you, Biggle and Bee might never find its way into the hands of schools, parents and children who really need it.

Risks and challenges
RISKS AND CHALLENGES
This is a pretty simple project. The book is already complete. The characters are already created and illustrated. The non-illustrated ebook is already in the market and you can download it using the smashwords link and code to read the book for yourself.
The only two foreseeable challenges are connected to the illustrations. One of these challenges is the time it might take to complete the illustrations. Each page is expected to have its own illustration. That is 30 different illustrations. But, these are simple illustrations and I have planned, what I feel is, enough time. The second challenge is the illustrated ebook, which will need to be formatted for the Kindle, which will have different issues to work through to perfection.
Read the book for yourself by using the smashwords link and code provided above to see how valuable it would be to our children.
