Say Hello to Peg. Peg is a multipurpose hub for some of the smaller things in your life. Peg is a dock for your phone, a display for your jewelry, a desktop organizer, a holder of accessories and much more.
Peg is a simple way to display and organize the important and not so important things in your life. Its clean design allows you to tailor Peg to your specific needs.
The main body is aluminum and is made with precision to give you a variety of orientations to places your pens, sunglasses or earrings. The small opening on the bottom left allows your Smartphone power cable to easily slip in to ensure it doesn’t fly loose when you’ve disconnected.
The small pegs are made of a robust thermoplastic elastomer which offers a strong hold and grippy texture with a soft touch. Each Peg board comes with 8 pegs which will allow you to hold just about anything, but if you need more or are afraid you may lose some, we offer an extra set of 10 pegs for an additional $5.
Peg comes in 5 colors; Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black and White. Use specific colors to differentiate between yours and hers or his- this range of colors delivers something for everyone in the family.
With each pledge you get 1 (one) Peg, with your choice of colour and 8 black TPE pegs for holding your items.
Who we are
We're The Federal Inc., a professional, award winning, product design firm located in Ottawa, Canada. We're a consultancy with lots of experience bringing products to the market-- not just on small scale but on worldwide, multi-million unit scale as well. We know product challenges and how to solve them. We believe that good design should be engaging without being expensive.
Ian Murchison and Rohan Thakar worked on the design team at Research In Motion as part of the Accessory team dealing with carrying solutions, bluetooth products, audio products, power solutions and more. We are both Industrial Design graduates from Carleton University's School of Industrial Design in Ottawa, Canada.
We do client work but often will step back and take on personal projects that we feel we can develop at an affordable price while still having a modern look.
We're here on Kickstarter today to launch Peg, the first of many projects we hope to bring to life with your help.
With each reward you get free shipping anywhere in the world! Yes you read that right. No more forgetting to add shipping, or scary overseas shipping prices. We've included it in the price to make everything super simple.
"Estimated Delivery: Dec 2013" you say? Yes! We plan to ship the first 100 units (the early backer specials) out from our studio to you backers during the second week of December. But what does this mean? For those in Canada and the US, according to our shipping guide you will receive them within 5-8 business days. International shipping will take 6-10 business days. In order to help us fulfill these timelines, please ensure that you submit your shipping information as quickly as possible!
Regardless of whether you're one of the first 100 backers or not, we will be sending out a digital card that you can print out and place in a stocking or under the tree if you are giving it as a gift.
The remaining units are planned for January arrival and will be shipped out as soon as they are received and packaged.
Here is how we've structured the project with the goal of getting the first 100 units out to our backers before Christmas.
We've done the product development and tested many prototypes. Next step we've kicked off a test tool to ensure that the design is exactly how we want it. With this tool we can offer the first 100 units to be shipped out before Christmas.
Upon completion of the campaign we will kick off more production tools that can withstand the minimum order quantities and keep up with demand. This process is followed by the creation of the products, shipping to Canada and fulfilment of the orders from our studio here in Ottawa.
Below is a graphic to give you a good visual representation of this process.
The money raised on Kickstarter will go towards our required tooling costs, packaging costs, minimum order quantities, shipping costs to backers and of course the fees to cover Kickstarter and Amazon Payments. Below is a bit of a visual breakdown of how the funds will be used relative to the funding goal.
Risks and challenges
No matter what the product is, bumps in the road can always happen. We designed the Peg to be super simple to minimize potential issues during manufacturing. We have a back-up manufacturer in place in the event that everything goes completely wrong (highly unlikely but we're just being safe).
We are packaging these in-house, which involves a time commitment, but we are confident that we can handle this effort and are prepared to hire extra staff if required.
Regarding shipping before Christmas, we've lined everything up and it all looks like it will work as planned. If anything comes up during the manufacturing process we'll be sure to update our backers with an updated timeline.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
