We're creating an amazing collection of files for you to 3D print and build a 28mm Sci-Fi Outpost for use with your tabletop games. Each piece of the Outpost is engineered to be totally modular to allow you to build "line of sight" blocking terrain or lay out multi-level space stations for dungeon crawlers and role playing games making use of the built-in 1 inch grid. Your pledges will be fulfilled as digital downloads of .STL files though our website and digital distribution platform at The Dragon's Rest. You can then print on a 3D printer.
Comms Established - Pledge at this level if you want to follow along with the campaign or just get the entire outpost files rendered top-down in PNG format for 2D play.
Origins Collection - Pledge at this level to get the core building blocks for your Outpost (blue pic) - This will be all the corridors, connectors and stair files, there's a lot! Once initial funding is reached we'll unlock all the exciting stretch goals (red pic) in the Expanded Collection. This will contain upgrades to the main outpost as well as some amazing stand alone thematic center pieces we have planned. Every Origins pledge will get all core files and all unlocked stretch goals!

The core files are a comprehensive starting point for your Outpost build, there's a multitude of printable corridors, stairs and risers to create epic multi-level gaming tables.
Once your Outpost is established we begin to unlock all the fun scatter and thematic items for adding character and bringing your Outpost to life. You'll be able to customise your table with pieces such as airlocks, access hatches and lifts for the corridors and a room construction kit.
With enough funding you'll be able to start setting up your defences with perimeter walls, walkways, tank traps, a massive armoured gateway, towering turret guns, bunkers plus much more!
We also have collections of smaller pieces like crates, piles of items, themed room dressings and everything your colonists will need to set up shop being added along the way.
Each stretch goal will contain multiple files all modelled with the same amount of detail and modular connection of the core set.
Check on the updates page for a breakdown of what's in each stretch goal as they're unlocked!
The airlock/entrance pod has sliding doors that will work with the roof section on or off.
The Corridor Hatch sections will fit with the other 2x3 corridor pieces. The top hatch has a working hinged door. The ladder uses a clip to attach it to the interior of the top corridor section or to any other clip point.
The crates are 2 pieces and designed with a hinge for you to hide weapons or maybe booby traps inside.
The lift sections are stackable and the lift is held in place with magnet/normal clips.
The Solar Arrays have been set up to power the Outpost.
There's been many man hours spent working out the complexities of the clip system we're using and how all of the pieces are going to work together. Making it as simple as possible to create great looking terrain on the fly.
Our clip system is compatible with other popular systems by the use of an adapter clip. We decided to use our own clips to allow a 5mm magnetic ball to fit inside and be easily replaced with a normal one if desired. 5mm magnetic balls mean there's no need to worry about polarity as the balls spin freely inside the clips. Magnets are useful when using the terrain for RPGs as you can swap pieces in and out and have everything held nicely in place. You can also just use our standard clips if magnets aren't your thing. We wanted to give you both options in the one clip system. There's future plans for traditional dungeon tiles that we wanted this to work perfectly with too.
With a single corridor section there's 4 clip holes in each end of both the top and base sections. 2 of the double clips are more than strong enough to hold the sections together.
The clips easily and securely snap into place allowing you to connect the corridors together.
Once your corridors are connected the roof sections remain removable from the base.
5mm magnets can be used to hold the corridors in place if you want the flexibility of laying out some spaceship corridors as you go. You may need up to 4 magnets per connection depending on the weight of the piece. Your magnets are reusable or can be swapped for normal clips by using the "Pop Tool".
The access holes were designed to allow you to easily pop out the double and half clips with the printable "pop tool". They were made to fit in aesthetically with the Outpost too, so they can be left open without the need to cap anything off. Once finished, all your clips can be stored in a Clip Crate built from a 2x1 corridor section and 2 corridor dead ends.
We've designed the corridors to be multi-use. Everything has been built on a 1 inch grid system to work with RPGs and Dungeon Crawlers but to also not look out of place on a battlefield.
Each roof section of the corridors can be flipped upside down and connected to the base to double the amount of usable terrain, transforming enclosed corridors to open walkways all with the grid system intact.
There's also clip connection holes on the top and bottom of each corridor piece allowing them to be locked together. This lets you to remove an upper floor as well as the roof below as one to allow access to the corridor beneath.
The Dragon's Rest was founded with the intention of offering premium terrain, designed to be printed without supports to get things on your tabletop with the least amount of hassle. Over the last year hundreds of hours have been spent building the store and making a start on populating it with the first of our quality products and pre-production on this Kickstarter.
We want to expand the range with a substantial collection of files and to have funding to reinvest. Should you choose to join in on this journey you'll be helping to get The Dragon's Rest up and running full time. We need extra printers for prototyping as well as time to model and finesse the designs. With successful funding we'll be able to release everything for this range a lot earlier than could be done without you - all at a tasty discount from RRP too ;)
We hope you'll join us to continue what has been an exciting journey!

Risks and challenges
All the engineering has been designed and tested. Most pieces in the Origins Collection Core Set have final designs and test printing completed nearing release. Other goals have been blocked in or are nearing the end of the design stage.
For fulfillment you will be set up with an account at www.dragons.rest and we will be adding files to your account on a regular basis as they are completed via an email letting you know what new goodies you'll have to print for the weekend.
Having worked in 3D Illustration and retouching for the past 22 years there's a wealth of experience in setting deadlines, projecting costings and the day to day running of a business. Currently time has been blocked out to focus 100% on completing the core files for this Kickstarter. With your help, as funding is hit for the main and each stretch goal we can continue to work wholly on production for The Dragon's Rest. We can't wait to get these and many more amazing terrain pieces into your hands and onto your tabletops!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
