Austin’s Alamo Drafthouse and New York City’s 8bitpeoples, 2 Player productions, and the people behind the Blip Festival have joined forces to create the premiere party during SXSW week, DATAPOP: A Celebration of 8-Bit Music and Culture - March 16th and 17th.
Now in it's third installment, Datapop will be held at Austin's very own Highball - a hybrid entertainment venue that features the best diner this side of 1960, eight lanes of bowling with rental by the hour; seven different themed karaoke rooms; four lanes of skee-ball with ticketed prizes you won’t find anywhere else and a ballroom event space that will be transformed into a unique cultural hot-spot featuring sets by 12 international 8-bit artists on a full concert stage with professional light and sound system.
We're reaching out to the community of music lovers and 8-bit fanatics to help us cover basic travel costs for some of our far-flung artists.
We've already confirmed the following artists to play this year:
Anamanaguchi (New York, NY)
Bit Shifter (New York, NY)
8BK-ok (New York, NY)
Henry Homesweet (Ipswich/Lincoln, UK)
IAYD (Corpus Christi, TX)
Je Deviens DJ en 3 Jours (Nice, FR)
Nullsleep (New York, NY)
Random (Stockholm, SE)
Sabrepulse (London, UK)
Sievert (Houston, TX)
Starscream (New York, NY)
Trash80 (Los Angeles, CA)
Paris (New York, NY)
Outpt (New York, NY)
Ricky de Laveaga (Los Angeles, CA)
We're trying to raise some extra money to bring in others from Japan, Sweden, France and Canada.
If you love music as much as we do and appreciate what these artists do, please help us get them to Austin to bring us the world's greatest 8bit dance party!
One last thing, it's not marked as a reward, but anyone that donates over $100 gets a free Sabrepulse T-Shirt.
