About this project
Presented Video is made by me, for one of finished songs for this album called "Slowa do deszczu/To the rain".
Music and performance by The Ceez, Words by K. K. Baczynski.
Special guest: Hamilton Price playing Upright Bass. Bass recorded at Take This Trip To Mars Studios in Hollywood, California by Marco Ortoli.
Mastering by Pete Doell at Universal Mastering Studios, Hollywood, CA.
My name is The Ceez (Piotr Cezar Okrasa). I am a singer, guitar player and producer of my own music. I am creating my music by myself without any support of record companies or management agencies. I think it is important that I mention that, because supporting my project, You can be sure that Your money will go nowhere else, but straight to the point where they are needed. So, I personally would like to thank each one of You for support!
Recently, I completed Specialist Certificate at Berklee Collage of Music in Music Production and Mastering. Working on this newest album as I did before, I successfully collaborate with many excellent musicians from all over the world willing to help to record this album by adding their own talents, ideas and experience. Most of the production work I am able to manage by myself in my place, where I record vocals and most of the instruments and then mixing it. However there are expenses that have to be covered, such as studio time for recording drums for an example with the engineer paid by hour on the spot and of course fair compensation for musicians.
The other costs are as much important. Such as Mastering fee for an example. Made by professionals will push the final mixes to the highest quality level possible. Another cost is the release production costs, like manufacturing CD's, packaging and shipping.
Idea of that album:
Bilingual 2CD - Polish(original)/English versions of songs with Krzysztof Kamil Baczynski poetry.
Poetry of that amazing Polish poet Krzysztof Kamil Baczynski is nearly completely unknown behind borders of Poland, where I come from. I would like to share my fascination of his artistic, but accurate descriptions of human nature, simple life situations, heartbreaks, war experiences and death itself.
About the poet:
Young Polish poet died at the age of 23, fighting with Nazi Germans durring Rise of Warsaw in 1944. Father was a soldier of Polish Legions in World War I and his mother was a school teacher, Catholic with Jewish roots, and as such treated by the Germans as a Jew. His uncle, Dr. Adam Zielenczyk escaped from the Warsaw Ghetto and was killed by Germans in 1943.
In Poland, he is usually recognizable as the II World War generation voice because of large amount of extremely sensitive poetry written during that time.
However, his poetry written before the war, when he was a young man barely discovering the world, I found to be as much interesting and magical. It truly take me to different times and different realities of Warsaw before the war. His poetry is almost completely unknown in other countries and singing his poems in polish here in United States I realized how interesting can be to make it understandable for none Polish speaking listeners. That's why my plan is to make it in 2CD bilingual album - Polish (original) and English. This release will include a booklet cover with all original and translated poems from that album, as well as some of the history and cultural facts of Poland and Warsaw that I believe influenced the poet to be who he was and what he was writing about.
Musically, this album will be very interesting because of differences from any other album I recorded before. First of all, my musical style orientation recently has changed from pretty hard rock/alternative style to easy listening jazzy, pop, electronic and acoustic kind of music. This changing process that is still evaluating, as well as my wide spectrum of experience in different styles of music I played along the way, brings very interesting blend of styles that you can expect to hear on upcoming album, without excluding any of styles. For the same goal, I didn't want to limit myself creating this material with only one group of musicians. Instead, I decided to pick musicians that I thought they would fit the best for particular composition.
Here is one example of his poetry translated to English and original Polish version:
*Elegy on . . . (a Polish boy)
They kept you, little son, from dreams like trembling butterflies,
they wove you, little son, in dark red blood two mournful eyes,
they painted landscapes with the yellow stitch of conflagrations,
they decorated all with hangmen’s trees the flowing oceans.
They taught you, little son, to know by heart your land of birth
as you were carving out with tears of iron its many paths.
They reared you in the darkness and fed you on terror’s bread;
you traveled gropingly that shamefulest of human roads.
And then you left, my lovely son, with your black gun at midnight,
and felt the evil prickling in the sound of each new minute.
Before you fell, over the land you raised your hand in blessing.
Was it a bullet killed you, son, or was it your heart bursting?

I wyszedłeś, jasny synku, z czarną bronią w noc,
i poczułeś, jak się jeży w dźwięku minut - zło.
Zanim padłeś, jeszcze ziemię przeżegnałeś ręką.
Czy to była kula, synku, czy to serce pękło?
And video with the same poem, as I was singing it live in Poland on my last tour in 2012.

Risks and challenges
In general, I'm capable of self producing my music. I sing and play most of the instruments, so I feel confident about handling the recording process and production. I also collaborate with many talented musicians and producers on daily basis, so I get help from all around.
I am aware of possibility of not being able to hire specific musician in that period of time that will be required to finish the song, but I'm open for modifications in the process and collaborating with others.
