Help bring this Bend-inspired board book to print!
The Busy Birds Adventures: Hello, Bend! is a bright, cheerful, and engaging board book to help introduce the beauty of the nature that surrounds us in Central Oregon. It's full of rhyming words, colorful pages, and is designed for babies to be able to hold and enjoy whether they are snuggled up in bed or out exploring the outdoors!
Bend is full of adventures and it's never too early to get inspired to greet the world around us with a friendly "hello" : )
How this book came about?
The journey all started when I combined my love of writing fun little poems with my quirky bird illustrations called The Busy Birds. Then, a series of Bend-inspired Busy Bird paintings turned into my first picture book called Little Bird Explores Bend! for kids ages 3-8. After talking to many parents in town who had kids too young for a standard picture book, I thought "How fun would it be to give Little Bird Explores Bend a baby sister?!" Then The Busy Birds Adventures: Hello, Bend! was born. I made it specifically for families who love the outdoors and believe it's never too early to teach their 0-3 year olds about all the adventures that are yet to come!

Meet the Creators
I am Kristen Riggle, an artist living in Bend, Oregon. My work is all about encouraging creativity, exploration, and doing what you love. I wrote and illustrated this book!
Jacob Riggle is my husband, a designer, who does the book layout and all the digital things necessary in getting the book ready for print. It's a team effort!
Kickstarter Budget Breakdown + Timeline
All the funds will be going into printing our first run of 1,000 books (aside from the 10% that will go to Kickstarter fees). Since the artwork for all 24 pages and cover have already been completed, digitized, and ready for print, once the campaign ends, the book can go right into production. Our current timeline estimates shipping books to you by September 2019.
Your help is needed to successfully fund the first print run of this book. If you're not familiar, Kickstarter's policy is all or nothing, so we must reach our financial goal or no one will be charged for a pledge.
Risks and challenges
Risks are low because I have been through the printing process with a hardcover and softcover book so far and have overcome every challenge that came my way with determination and accountability. This is very straightforward since all the creative work is finished and ready to be sent to the printing press.
This is my first board book and Kickstarter campaign, however. With the various moving parts involved with coordinating the publication and shipping of so many books, please keep in mind that delays are a possibility. We will proactively keep everyone informed if there are any unforeseen setbacks with our intended publication and shipping schedule.
Thanks, everyone! Don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions, concerns or ideas.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
