Originally hailing from the basement apartments and Berklee rehearsal spaces of Boston, MA, Annie and The Beekeepers have been around, in various formations, for the past five years, now fiercely surviving in the enticingly boundless musical sea of Brooklyn, NY. In this time, the band has created two critically-acclaimed releases, toured throughout the US and in the UK, performed at various internationally recognized festivals, and has been aired on America's finest independent radio stations. At the end of 2010, the original outfit peacefully disbursed. Annie has spent the past 15 some-odd months writing new material, practicing, working all kinds of day jobs, taking guitar lessons, touring solo, and performing and rehearsing with a wide variety of NYC's great musicians and song-writers. From this, a new formation of The Beekeepers has been born. With the immeasurable collaborative efforts and dedication of these musicians (Multi-instrumentalists: Andrew Michael Buri, Garth Stevenson, and Jeni Magana) and producer, Dan Molad, Annie is preparing to release the first Annie and The Beekeepers record since the Squid Hell Sessions EP three years ago, and the first full-length album since the self-titled debut five years ago.
In order to successfully complete and release this album Annie and The Beekeepers will need to gather funding to do the following:
- Compensate the producer and engineer for time spent pre-producing, producing, recording and mixing the songs
- Pay for use of a professional recording studio
- Compensate all contributing musicians for their time, skills, and hard-work (6-7 people)
- Pay a mastering engineer
- Pay the artist who will create/design the album art
- Pay the companies that replicate CDs and press the cases.
These are expenses that a record label would often provide support for, but because we are currently completely independent, we need to do the work and come up with the funding on our own to make this record possible. This is why we have decided to reach out to you, our community, via KickStarter. In return for your pledge, you will receive gifts (listed to the right). For your generosity, we will gladly exchange our products and services as well as our most heartfelt gratitude for your belief in the importance of supporting the plight of independent musicians like us.
*For use of their wonderful site and resources, KickStarter takes 5% of each project. Along with the factors described above, this percentage was considered in determining our goal amount. If you contribute to this project, you are also contributing to the continuation of this great company and it's ability to help with the many other innovators who utilize this site to make their dreams come true. Two birds with one stone!
