Blame It All On Sorcery by Old Man Wizard

Blame It All On Sorcery is the second studio album by our Southern California-based rock band Old Man Wizard. This album is written, arranged, and recorded. We are raising funds with the goal of self-releasing it to make sure you get the clearest representation of our vision.

The money we raise here on Kickstarter goes directly to our production costs; LPs, CDs, Studio Time, Mixing, Mastering, and Art are all quite expensive. Money raised in excess of our goal goes right back into the band; we love making music videos, and we got the notion that a short video game based on the band would be fun to have. Here are a few videos we've done in the past:
Our lineup hasn't changed since the last record, and consists of Francis Roberts (ex-The Dread Crew of Oddwood, ex-Leather Nun america, Arus, Gorm), Kris Calabio (Platypus Egg, Plunger), and Andre Beller (The Dread Crew of Oddwood, Kirby's Dream Band, Vic Viper).
We are excited to have San Francisco based artist Valin Mattheis return to create art for the packaging of this record.
We have spent some time in Audio Design Recording studio, which has overseen the recordings of too many excellent bands to count.
We press our records through Pirates Press. We plan to use them again and have already secured quotes for this project.
We hope you fund our project and afford us this unique opportunity to improve the quality of your suffering amidst the misery of life in this sad, sad world! And if we fail? Blame it all on Sorcery.
If we somehow end up significantly overfunded, we will use additional resources to create more cool stuff for you. Expect more music videos, things like live videos, games, comic books, etc. We love you and we love spending money on unnecessary things that are fun to have.
Risks and challenges
Self-releasing an album means we're in charge of everything. That means we get to do it our way, but it also means we HAVE to do it our way. We considered turning to Kickstarter for our first record, Unfavorable, but decided against it, primarily because we wanted to be completely sure we were capable of delivering a quality product if we turned to a method as unsavory as crowdfunding.
Now that we have that experience under our belts, we're more comfortable asking for financial help to do all the things we wished we could have done a better job with the first time around.
There is a possibility that we go over budget, but we already paid for most of the album out of pocket and the money we raise from Kickstarter is being used as overhead to buy wholesale merchandise (Shirts, Records, CDs; The stuff you're getting as backer rewards). This means that if we reach our goal, we will deliver your rewards, even if we're in the red for a little bit longer than we want to be.
Thanks for reading this, watching our videos, listening to our music, and generally being supportive of our art. We love you all.
