Flight Experience - Kansas City (Canceled)
Experience the thrill of flying a Boeing 737NG first hand. Help bring Flight Experience to Kansas City!
Flight Experience is the ultimate thrill for any aviation enthusiast. There are twelve locations around the world where you can see what it is like to be the pilot of the world's most popular airliner, the Boeing 737. Each location is privately owned and operated.
To visit one of the several locations around the world and experience the thrill of flying a commercial airliner for yourself you must first purchase airline tickets to get you there. Then of course there is the hotel reservations to make. Don't forget all of the other travel expenses such as a rental car or taxi, meals, and what about all of that time off of work? Is it worth it? Absolutely! However, what if you could just visit Kansas City?
We want to bring Flight Experience to Kansas City. We want to make it possible for those who may not have the means to visit one of the other Flight Experience locations throughout the globe to see what it is all about. We want to give you more time in the simulator and less time traveling to get there!
We need the support of the Kickstarter community to make this happen! Instead of spending the money to take a trip to a Flight Experience location outside of the United States, use the same money to bring Flight Experience to you! Don't invest in a once in a lifetime experience... Invest in a lifetime of Flight Experience!
Our 737NG flight simulator will be built in Christchurch, New Zealand at Pacific Simulators. Once built it will go through an extensive series of testing and check flights. It will then be transported halfway around the globe to Kansas City.
As supporters of this project you will be along for the ride as we search for and select a store location. You will get behind the scenes access to the store construction and layout. You will get to see the simulator being built as well as receive updates on the progress each step of the way.
Most importantly you will receive VIP access to the simulator once it is installed as well as receive your Flight Experience time in the simulator at the discounted rate based on your reward/support level.
Bringing Flight Experience to the Kansas City area is a monumental challenge and what may seem overwhelming for me to do on my own may just be within reach if we can all work together. I am hoping that we can band together as a community and make this dream a reality.
I have been in talks with Flight Experience for well over two years now and we have laid the groundwork to make this happen. We need your support to complete the build and help us pay to transport the simulator to the United States.
Just like a real commercial flight, it takes a lot of passengers to pay for the ride!

MEET YOUR FIRST OFFICER
Our Flight Instructor is your First Officer. All of our instructors are real pilots who have successfully completed the comprehensive Flight Experience Instructor Training Course. They are proficient at operating our Boeing 737-800 Simulator and have a high-level of customer service and instructional skills.
You and your passengers will be taken through a Pre-flight Briefing by your First Officer in our dedicated Briefing Area. After assessing your level of expertise, a multi-media presentation will help you choose your flight options including destinations. You can choose from over 24,000 airports! You will then watch a short video explaining relevant features of the Boeing 737 and its cockpit.
Your First Officer will guide you and your passengers into the Flight Simulator. As the Captain, you will sit in the front left-hand seat while your passengers sit in the two jump-seats directly behind you. Strap in with your 5-point seat harness and real aircraft headsets. Our simulators are used for pilot training, so don’t be surprised if you suddenly feel like your on-board the real thing!
Now you’re strapped into the captain’s seat of a Boeing 737-800. Your First Officer will brief you on the primary controls and instruments and then you’re ready for take-off!
With permission from Air Traffic Control, you advance the thrust levers and your Boeing 737 hurtles down the runway. “Rotate”, you pull the control column back towards you and the nose wheel lifts off the runway…You’re airborne, and you can start to relax and appreciate the stunningly realistic scenery. But you don’t have too much time for sightseeing; you need to manage your airspeed, maintain your altitude and watch your heading. You need to be aware of any other traffic in the area, monitor a dazzling array of screens and indicators, and complete the real-life aircraft checklists.
Your destination awaits you. Whether you’ve chosen your local airport, an international hub airport or a white-knuckle approach (like Hong Kong’s infamous Kai Tak or Innsbruck amongst the snow-capped Swiss Alps), you must keep a cool head. Now apply your new aviator skills to land over 60 tons of aircraft onto the runway!
Regardless of your age, experience, or which Flight Package you choose, we guarantee your Flight Experience will be unforgettable!

The Boeing 737:
The Boeing 737 is the best selling jet-airliner in aviation history. The aircraft size, configuration, economy, range and reliability have made the series a favorite with airlines around the world. Since the B737 was launched in the 1960s with the B737-100, nearly 8000 aircraft have been delivered with another 3700 on order. The B737 fleet has made more than 322 million flights. The B737 represents more than a quarter of the total worldwide fleet of commercial jet airliners. In fact, on average, about 1,250 B737s are in the air at all times and one takes off or lands every 5 seconds. The Boeing 737 falls into three groups:
- The Originals: Boeing B737-100 and B737-200. Production was from 1971 until 1988.
- The Classics: Boeing B737-300, B737-400 and B737-500. Production was from 1984 until 2000
- Next Generation: B737-600, B737-700, B737-800 and B737-900. Production commenced in 1996 and continues today.
The Next Generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft is the biggest selling model and has up to 189 seats, compared to just 100 on the original B737-100. It has more efficient CFM56-7B turbo fans; a new, more fuel-efficient wing and larger tail surfaces – all factors that have encouraged airlines to update their fleets. The new flight decks feature new six-panel LCD screens, providing more effective, easier-to-read information. The Next Generation B737-800 and B737-900 are the largest members of the Boeing family. They are distinguished by new fuselage lengths and an extended single-class seating range. The new B737 Max is scheduled for delivery in 2017 and Boeing has so far taken nearly 2000 orders.
Why Kansas City?
Kansas city is in the heart of the United States. It's central location is key to our success. We want to reach as many people as possible while keeping the travel time and cost for our customers to a minimum.
Kansas City is home to 10 commercial airlines with approximately 200 departures each day to over 50 non-stop destinations!
Kansas City is the crossroads of America with several interstate highway systems crossing through the heart of the city!
Kansas City is also home to several local commercial and military aviation museums!
Why $500,000 for a funding goal?
We want to offer our customers nothing but the newest, most advanced, most accurate simulator possible. Our simulator is the only Boeing licensed product used for entertainment purposes. We also want to guarantee that if we meet our goal that we will be able to deliver what we promise. From fabrication, delivery, and start-up, we have to ensure that we will succeed. This funding goal will cover the cost of the simulator, the shipping and delivery of the simulator, the initial outfitting of our store location, as well as the operating costs associated with delivering the promised backer rewards. We cannot do this without your support.
This is a very lofty goal but I have absolute faith that we can reach it as a community!

Risks and challenges
Our goal is to open Flight Experience - Kansas City in December of 2014. There are a lot of different pieces of the puzzle that need to fall in place to make this happen. One potential risk is opening later than anticipated. We will keep everyone posted on our status and schedule along the way.
The other challenge is the availability of the simulator itself. While we will make every effort to make the simulator available upon request to fit your schedule it is possible that the simulator will be booked or reserved. It is best to reserve your flight as far in advance as practical.
NOTE: All rewards will be in the form of time in the simulator and will not be redeemable for cash. Every effort will be made to schedule your Flight Experience reward flight around your available schedule! You are responsible for your own transportation to Flight Experience - Kansas City.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
