META Day 1 Recap! (Or, "WTH were you thinking launching on April 1st?!?")
As launch day wraps up, I'd like to take a moment to thank my early backers.
We're off to a bit of a slow start, but I'm certainly not discouraged, and you shouldn't be either! The lack of glowing, effusive, breathless stories about META plastered all across the Internet is probably largely due to the tough competition we faced in the media today. As it turns out today was a popular day for funny news stories!
It's also possible that despite my assurances, some of the people who I shared META with today think that the whole thing is some sort of prank.
Obviously I was fully aware of these risks when planning launch day for April 1st, but I couldn't resist launching on the funniest day of the year. It was just too perfect a match for the tone I was going for with the video, the pitch, the reward tiers... well, the whole project, really.
I can assure you that I put far too much effort into this for it to be a prank. I'm no Rob Cockerham. When the campaign continues as scheduled throughout the month of April, the doubters will realize the error of their ways and will eventually be drawn to the big green "Back This Project" button like moths to a flame.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the fine people at GeekWire, who included META in a story today. Thanks guys! First media coverage!
For those of you who have already backed, make sure you share META with all your friends on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Reddit, MySpace, Orkut, Friendster, World of Warcraft, Second Life, IRC, YouFace, and whatever other dozens of social networks you partake in during every waking moment that you aren't on Kickstarter.
As for me, I'll continue spreading the word on my channels, and pushing my various contacts at relevant news outlets to share META with their readers. 1 day down, 29 to go!
Thank you again, and keep being META.
