What it's about:

für die deutschsprachige Version bitte herunterscrollen

On 4625.0 kHz, there are no pop music, morningshows or annoying radio presenters. Actually nothing. Just a creepy BUZZER sound. Almost unchanged for about 40 years, the sound is only sometimes interrupted by strange voice messages and sequences of numbers. And, twice, by pieces of music: the first time by Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, the second time by an old Russian folk song.

Is the shortwave transmitter a relic of the cold war? A dead man's switch to initiate a nuclear counterattack? A modified numbers station, which secret services still use as an inconspicuous possibility of communication to reach agents in and outside the country? Or an instrument to contact extraterrestrial life? But what’s about that permanent buzzing sound? Ham radio activists deal with the station for decades, in the scene UVB-76 is a celebrity. And, of course, the base for various assumptions and conspiracy theories.

Because of several reports and a live broadcast on the internet, „THE BUZZER" has become known to a huge audience in recent years. BBC, Dailymail, Die Welt, Tagesspiegel and Bild reported.

In our film we will try to find out, who or what the buzzer is and why it exists. For this, we will go on a road trip and visit people and places which can tell us more about the mystery.

We will visit ham radio specialists, politicians and conspiracy theorists in Germany and Russia, as well as the former transmitter base in Powarowo, abandoned in 2010. If possible, we want to be the first to locate the new location of the facility to personally face the mysterious buzzer. Even, if we do not reach all our goals - our failure will be entertaining.

Darum gehts
