Who is Jet 2
“I never let them tell me there are any limits,” says an enthusiastic Jet 2 in an in-house interview with Len Springs. Jet 2 discovered his passion for music at an early age through playing drums with his father Jerri Jheto, and listening to several genres of music growing up. Ultimately, this passion led Jet 2 to become the drum technician for Akon where he continually learned from experiences out on tour. Jet 2 began his passion for lyricism at Dorsey High School in Los Angeles, and his overall theme in his music is uncanny truth and confidence in sticking to what you believe in.
Jet 2 is influenced by Jay-Z’s uncanny accuracy and vivid lyricism. His words rhythmically tell a story through each syllable. Jet 2 is also heavily influenced by Ab-Soul’s belief that humans are not only human beings, but spiritual beings. Each song nudges the listener to dig deeper than the physical outlook of life and question what you hear. Jet 2 ties both of these artists’ strong points into his musical view and exercises his own influence of inspiration to each listener.
Recording music independently has been a journey. I have a plethora of albums and songs available on music streaming services and platforms that have performed well relative to my current situation and where I am in my career.
My most recent album, Lie out Loud
I was always under the impression that if you put out great music, eventually you will be discovered by the masses under the strength of your music alone.
After ten years of studying the music industry and talking to many prolific, seasoned music industry veterans, such as Wendy Day, I realized that many of those success stories us upcoming musicians are pitched, are quite far from the truth. We are told that we make great music and get discovered, yet never told how.
Ultimately, I've made connections with different public relations companies, and mixtape hosting sites, such as DatPiff, who have offered to post the album front page for $1,400 a week. I plan on having the album on the front page of Datpiff for at least the first two weeks of the release.
Mastered for iTunes
Sound is very important. I've attended the Musicians Institute where I've learned how to mix and master my own music, which is the way I have been recording projects. For this release, I want to get the album professionally mixed and mastered. I'm looking at least $2,000 for that process.
Artwork, CDs, & Videos & Merchandise
As much as I love to get creative and do everything on my own, I'm looking to have very nice looking aesthetic for this release. I am looking to hire a nice artwork designer, print at least 5,000 physical copies of the album. The quote I received from CDBaby to print these copies is $6,870.37.
As far as music videos, I want to create at least 3 or 4 music videos. In order to make a decent music video conceptually, I'm looking at--at least $10,000 a video for filming, props, and storyline.
With each music video being finished, viewers aren't just going to see the videos from the strength of an amazing video on its own. Therefore, I am going to need to put money into promoting the video on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram ads. I'm planning on putting $2,000 into each video for promotion and advertisement. That will equal at least $8,000. To be safe, I would need at least $10,000.
I am envisioning clothing such as t-shirts, hats, thumb drives, and other merchandise that will coincide with the album as well. If there are any creative ideas you may have, feel free to let me know as well. I am still brainstorming ideas.
After the Album Release, Touring
For the release of the album, I will do a tour in various cities in California, and neighboring states. As the budget may increase or allow, I will expand the tour to other states and cities in the United States. I am still budgeting how much that would cost. I will keep you all updated as this develops.
Risks and challenges
Risks and challenges I may experience upon completing the project is simply either underestimating the budget for the release and merchandising, or coming across hurdles during filming of the music video, or not having enough to bring certain concepts to life visually.
In the event this happens, I will cultivate alternatives to develop the vision and ensure the concept is properly conveyed throughout each music video on the album.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
