Some people don't value the physical stuff, but Some do, that's why they pledges more money than others. So please respect our disappointment in this dvd tray and posters that our folded into 30 parts. I don't think the physical stuff got the right treatment to such an extent that maybe it should be reported.

    2. Frodo

Again... it is the GAME that's important, not a cardboard box! We're all fans of Tex. We've been waiting 15 years for this game! And now, Big Finish have finally made it happen. Just think about that for a moment - the day we thought would never happen... HAS happened! Tex Murphy is back! And Big Finish went all out, to give us this amazing new Tex Murphy game. We should be celebrating that, instead of complaining about a piece of card. Thankyou Big Finish!

    3. STooGE$$$$ on

Was expecting Amazon shipment got Tex rewards...pleasant surprise.

Shirt is great looking, shot glass too. Was expecting a big box but that's no big deal as I don't have much more space anyhow.

However, I am pretty disappointed in the poster. The poster is AWESOME and HUGE and the signatures are great but it was folded so many times to fit in a small box that it completely diminished the allure of the print. Also, the folds really damaged parts of the print to the point of tearing through it. I was planning on framing it but don't think I will now. For something like this, I never expected a 24x36" to be jam packed in such a small space. I would totally spent another $8 to ship it in an actual tube or something. I do really enjoy posters and was really looking forward to finding an awesome frame.

Anyway just wanted to share my thoughts. These things don't ruin it for me because I consider my pledge a contribution to making this thing happen (not necessarily the things I got/didn't get) and that is enough for me. Thanks for the great game and revival of a great series.

    4. Ashkey on

From the description from the reward tier I was also under the impression that it would be in a cardboard box.

Regardless, in my opinion some folks are not seeing the forest for the trees, in that the fundamental purpose was to fund the game, which after 15 years was finally made and we have all received.

Additionally BFG has provided a lot of great content for folks across the board and in particular ~$100 tier was the sweet spot and resplendent with excellent content. That outside of the context of KS those products would be priced individually is significantly more than the sum of that pledge level.

Again it is disappointing that packaging does not meet expectations but at least for me at the end of the day BFG delivered by completing and shipping the game, unlike a lot of other Game themed KS, that is solid and great entry in the series and provided a lot of great digital content. -Even upgraded the music from MP3s to FLAC on the site.

      Best regards,

PS. I am still awaiting for my package and I live nearly next door but I am not expressing disproportion grievances about it. Things happen and evidently my package was buried behind other folks that received theirs earlier. Cest La Vie.

    5. Frogacuda on

But whoever said the printing was cheap on the insert is correct. All red with washed out details. Would have been worth a couple more cents per copy to print a nicer quality label. Probably telling of BFG's financial state :/

    6. Frogacuda on

Paskarl: Yes, it's a shame if anyone pledged their money hoping for something different than what they got. I don't think BFG intended anyone to be misled, but I feel bad for people who expected something different than what they got.

And yes, I think cardboard boxes for games were crappy and I was happy when the industry finally moved on to hard cases.

    7. Thrombar on

I was also disappointed tonight when I unboxed the dvd case instead of unboxing a box. (Had intended to place it alongside the other games in the series.) Tshirt is nice.

    8. Giuseppe Pantaleo on

You didn't just get a physical copy for $100 though. You also got a t-shirt and a host of other goodies from the previous reward tiers.

    9. Paskarl (k0SH) on

@ Frogacuda (It's a shame people misunderstood the meaning of the physical copy tier.)
So it´s a shame to pay $115 (100 + 15 shipping) and expect a big box like other adventure game kickstarter projects offered and delivered at $80+ pledge levels?
PS. You don´t understand if you don´t care about boxed games at all.

    10. Paskarl (k0SH) on

      THIS is SO wrong :(
Here is a pic about the Tesla Effect "box" compared to a real Overseer box:

I think I've asked about the box (size) before I upgraded my pledge level!
Because I always ask to be sure that we´re talking about a real box!
      Have to check my e-mails..

      So not right :((((((((((((((((((((((
Sorry but I won´t back the next Tex game.
Wait for the digital distribution and by it discounted (because it will be discounted directly at launch like Tesla Effect).

How disappointed I am? THAT MUCH:
      Expectations vs delivered:

      Happiness chart:

      Game was great.
      T-Shirt is ok.
      Soundtrack is good.
      Soundtrack two (Jazz) is great.
      DVD case is crap!
Not only the size but what happend to the print?
      Colors (yellow-red-proportion) seems messed up!!

    11. barbarian_bros on

Disapointed to get only a DVD keep case and not an actual "collector's box"

So far i received from KS projects those 'boxes' :

-Larry Reloaded : a big old US 90's sized box. very thin carboard ans only 'paper sleeves' storage for the game disc and the soundtrack CD.... but a big box (and a lot of other goodies : shot glass, pen, fresh oral spray, and a condom !.
-Giana Project/Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams : A 300 copies limited strong cardboard folder containing the game disc, a making of DVD, the soundtrack CD and an exclusve printed manual. Got from lower tiers : the soundtrack CD in its jewel case, and the game in its DVD case).
-Divinity Original Sin : a DVD-case sized strong cardboard box : containing the game in its DVD case, a printed manual and many goodies (stickers, playing cards, cloth map, soundtrack CD in its cardboard sleeve, crafting cards...)
-Battle Worlds - Kronos : I actually backed only for the 'DVD edition', the collector's Edition was a metal box with room for the game DVD box, all the manuals and a card game. The DVD edition came with a classic DVD keep case and a cardboard folder, and printed manuals.
-Wasteland 2 : the 'boxed' edition came as a big carboard box. The collector's Edition was a metal 'ammo case' box.
-Broken Sword 5 : a big 90's style strong cardboard box.

According to 'mobygames' a 'boxed' game comes in a BOX. A DVD case is either a DVD Case or a DVD keep case, but it's not a box.

I like the game and I'm happy it was funded on KS. but when I've choose the 'Exclusive Boxed Collectors Edition of "Project Fedora" tier, I didn't expect a poor DVD case.

    12. Gonchi on

Expected an actual box, bitterly disappointed I'm getting a cheap, generic DVD case instead. Ugh.

      T-Shirt looks nice at least.

    13. Frogacuda on

I have to admit I find it utterly absurd that anyone thinks cardboard makes it more collectible or more special, though. A physical copy of this digital only game is a very rare item and a great physical collectible for any fan, made no rarer for the fact that it's plastic and not cardboard.

    14. Frogacuda on

It's a shame people misunderstood the meaning of the physical copy tier. I never thought I was getting anything other than a hard case copy, and would have been disappointed if I got a big, flimsy, and easily damaged box instead. Kitsch value aside I wonder why anyone would want such a thing. They were horrible back then.

But of course it's always a drag when people expect one thing and get another. So I feel for people that misunderstood, even if I'm glad we got a case and not a cardboard box.

    15. Diana on

I received my parcel today. I pledged for a "Box" and now I have only an "DVD case" ... that is not my deal guys!

    16. Russell Deitch on

I have a game in a DVD case which I will probably give away. Everything else is ok.
As far as KS is concerned, you should deliver as defined. This counts as another reason why I have given up backing.

    17. Giuseppe Pantaleo on

Sweet, my copy came in the mail!

Thank you for this phenomenal series!

    18. Frodo

The game is what's important, and Big Fiiish poured their heart and soul into the game. They MORE than delivered on giving us a fantastic game. ( :

      lxlvl99 on

I really feel like I need to bring this to the forefront so there's no gray area here (and there really shouldn't have been one to begin with).
As of now, I have already received 4 "Boxed" editions of backed projects at $100 tier or close to it give or take a few $. Listed below are projects and the descriptions that they gave for those tiers.
BROKEN SWORD GOLD MEMBER - All above rewards plus: • Boxed Kickstarter special edition of the Game = Result was an actual game in a physical box.
Divinity Original Sin Kickstarter Box Copy with Printed Manual, Soundtrack CD and Cloth Map = Result was a game in a physical box (and a very nice box at that).
Shadow Gate - The game ships in a never-to-be-made-again COLLECTORS BOX created specifically for displaying the game in all its glory = Result was a game in a physical box (also a very nice box at that.)
Moebius - We have added the big box edition of Moebius to the $100 tier. = Result was a physical cardboard box which contained the game (2 games actually, but that's another story).
Now here is a description that clearly states to expect a game in a "dvd case" should the funding goal be reached (which unfortunately it had not). And this stretch goal was at the $30 tier.
Delaware St. John: Asylum of The Lost"
If $25,000 stretch goal is met, everyone at this tier and higher receive a special DVD edition of the game. This can be easily interpreted as a dvd inside a dvd case and no one would be expecting here to receive a dvd inside a "box".
So I think all the examples above make it abundantly clear as to what is/was meant by a "boxed" edition vs. a game inside a dvd case.
      * Exclusive Boxed Collectors Edition of "Project Fedora" at $100 tier and above clearly falls into the former category of the 4 games listed. So as to why this "Exclusive Boxed Collectors Edition of "Project Fedora"" description wasn't honored is anyone's guess. But I can't help but think that myself and others who contributed to the $100 tier and above got a short end of the stick here.

    20. garkham

Oh... I'm a bit disappoinrted there was no in-box manual / documentation in the collector edition. But as I read the description, yeah, I cannot say there was any lie in it. Thank you for the journey anyway. :)

I agree no boxed collectors edition should ever come in a DVD case. Granted the idea here is to make the game but should they ever want to go down this road again the way they handled incentives is going to turn everyone off. (or at least it should) I know I felt they REALLY botched the incentives. As for the game I quit about half way through kinda a snooze.

    23. Lynne Mangold on

I have thrown all my other boxes out to save room & I have put them all in plastic sleeves that are filed in a leather box so it doesn't worry me at all. I think I will be disappointed however if I don't receive my detective box in a collectors box as it was worded that way

    24. David Bywater on

I'm not fazed by this at all - they put their heart and money into the game and that's where it counted

    25. Overmann on

I was also expecting a big box, or at least a box.
But I'm with Shawn Shinn a little disappointed, but not heart broken.

The amount it cost would lead you to believe it to be a big box, compared with other kickstarters.

But at least its not a steam key like Broken Sword.
Rev did fix that, and sent DRM free Discs to all the backers (at on extra cost) who wanted them.

      Just sayin.

      Shawn Shinn on

I, too, expected a box instead of a DVD case. My pledge was mostly to help get the game funded, so I'm not too upset, but I am a little disappointed. The t-shirt is great, though!

      Lance Bohy

I'm also extremely disappointed that we've been given crappy DVD cases being passed off as a "Boxed Collector's Edition". They need to fix this!

    28. Paskarl (k0SH) on

      1. Other adventure game projects offered (big) boxed copies for less/ same ammount of money.
      2. DVD cases were most the time ~$50 or below.
      3. Others, including me, were simply naive to think that a "Boxed Collectors Edition" is a (big) box and not a (crappy cheap) DVD case.
      4. Producing a big thin cardbox isn´t really expensive at all, it's cheap!
      5. Most important one: Big Finish Games did a wonderfull job with boxed Tex games in the past! Others, inclduing me, thought they appreciate their fans not only game-wise but collectore-wise too. This (crappy) DVD case looks so aweful next to the boxed copies of Tex games!
This all is - of course - only understandable when you´re collecting games and care.

    29. Andres Janssens on

With the information we have now, it seems as if they never intended to have a BIG box manufactured for the kickstarter backers. So how did we, including myself, all get the idea that this box was going to be a big box?

    30. Paskarl (k0SH) on

Pledge $100 or more , 734 backers , * Exclusive Boxed Collectors Edition of "Project Fedora"
      Crappy DVD-case???????????
That´s a slap in the face of every boxed Tex games collector!!!!!

    31. Paskarl (k0SH) on

So the "boxed" game is a DVD case?
      This is so not ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      Heavily disappointed!
Will support a new Tex kickstarter only on a digital level - if I´m going to support it.
      Man.. this sucks so bad!
And will look like crap compared to the awesome boxes of Tex 1-5 !!!

Going by that description for $500 tier, it should be no different for $100 tier as far as the boxed copy is being described as "Exclusive Boxed Collectors Edition of "Project Fedora". Both have "Box" in their description, and yet for some reason, I got no box, just the game in the DVD case. So I'm not so sure as to the "Box" making its appearance at $500, if at $100 it was a no show. I could be wrong though and only time will tell.

    33. Chris Clarke on

I think the special box is for $500 and up

      Mike Baudendistel on

Alex...yup...that's what I think of when I think of "boxed" as well. A DVD case is NOT a box. Very disappointed in what I received.

I just received the physical goodies at the $100 tier. For some reason, I envisioned the game to be included in a card board box like the previous Tex Murphy games, but apparently, the boxed game in this case was referring to it being a dvd case. Still very happy to finally get it in my hands.

    36. Bill on

Looks like $75.00 level backers have started receiving their t-shirts. Anyone got theirs yet? Some $100.00 level backers have started getting their goodies as well.

    37. Bill on

On the forum it says "Looks like we're about 12 days since the last update.
More than 50% of the packages have been assembled, taped up, and are ready for the labels and pickup.
(Courtney and Bobby have been working those boxes, and getting everything together)

We're really just waiting...trying to give money to the USPS to print those labels.
Account information and everything have been submitted...we just haven't heard back from them.

If you want to see a recognizable face representing TruGolf...go HERE" so things look like they are happening.

    38. Ryan M on

I'm seriously apprehensive the incentives will ever roll out. I'm almost at the point where I've completely dismissed them. The whole excuse to wait until they were all available seems pretty ridiculous to me. If you can send a message to say we're not sending them to avoid confusion, can't you just send a message to say your sending what you have as it arrives? I love Tex Murphy and Big Finish games for bringing it back but this whole incentive thing is leaving me with a bad feeling that the incentives aren't going to happen.
