ABOUT THE PROJECT
Last fall I was honored to be approached by Lynn Nachbar from The Edge Center for the Arts and invited to have a solo exhibition at The Edge gallery.
The solo exhibition is an important step in any artist's professional development and artistic career. I'm excited to have this opportunity to reach a new audience and show an extensive selection of my work from the past four+ years in such a beautiful gallery. The size of the gallery and scope of the show, however, make the endeavor financially daunting.
I'll need 30-40 framed pieces to mount a satisfactory show in this space. I've already created the work. Now I need to pay to print and frame the majority of these pieces.
This shows the layout and size of the gallery:
My $3,000 project goal will provide $100/piece for 30 pieces. This is a modest amount but will still be enormously helpful.
Making my stretch goal of $5,000 will allow me to produce additional pieces, travel costs to deliver the work and attend the opening reception, and pay the artist.
The following slideshow gives a better sense of the bodies of work and individual pieces I hope to include in the show. These are also the images available for reward selections. Once the project is funded, I'll send backers a link to access an online gallery for better viewing/selection.
To see more of my work or learn more about me, please visit my website: www.terrarathai.com or check out my photo blog: avantgarden365. The blog is where I got my start exploring photography. It's also the best place to see a diverse selection of my pictures and read a bit of my writing, too. While the blog has been in hibernation of late, I'll be breathing new life into it in the near future. If you like what you see, please subscribe to receive future updates.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my project.
Risks and challenges
My project is really straightforward. I have an exhibition at The Edge Center from August 21-September 20, 2014. I will deliver all of my pictures to the gallery on August 18th. Planning for the exhibition is underway. In the coming weeks I will finalize the selection of pieces, design the exhibition layout & start making & framing prints.
It's not an issue of whether or not I will complete the project. I will. With funding, however, I will be able to mount a quality exhibition of my work with less stress & financial hardship and be able to enjoy and make the most of this great opportunity.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
