We plan to build a 2D Multi-Player Shooter. The idea is fairly simple and it takes ideas from all sorts of games and brings them together in new ways.
There's not a well-known Top Down Multi-Player Shooter out there at the moment so we plan to be the first in creating this simple but competitive, skill based game.
The video shows a basic prototype but we plan on adding features like double tapping the strafe keys to roll either side so you can dodge, as well as holding shift to sprint to out manoeuvre your opponents.
We'll be including a unique ranking system that allows players and clans to challenge each other and work up the rankings.
We'll also be including different game modes such as 8 player respawn, team death match, demolition, hostage mode and a mode unseen anywhere called Citadel Breach where you basically have a to breach the Citadel and then there's a complex escort situation.
We also intend on having tournaments running, one tournament we've developed is the randomly assigned tournaments.
It works by 40 people signing up to the tournament. Then the system randomly puts you into a team of 5 to go against other teams of 5 randomly assigned players.
You stay with the team you're assigned with throughout the knock-out tournament. So in a tournament of 40 players if you win 3 games in a row you're the winning team.
The idea is to add an element of luck depending with who you get teamed up with. So for example can 3 pro's carry 2 noob's against a team of 5 average players.
The dynamics are endless and each team will probably require someone to step up and lead the team to victory, placing different players in different roles.
We guarantee the better teams will limit their flaming and use some sort of voice communication to work together effectively. This is also a good way to find clan members to play in clan matches where you have an established team.
We don't expect to be the next Counter-strike but it will be a fun mini game you can play with friends and the 'architecture' we will use will inspire other games to use the same systems.
We've got some other ideas for games and basically want to start a games development business.
This would be our first game that will hopefully fund us to make some games that are just at the concept stage.
Thanks for your time and we hope you can see the potential in a simple 2D competitive multi-player shooter.
Risks and challenges
There really isn't much to discuss, the response we've got from the market research we've done is basically 'Fairly interested - get it done!' and we hope to be able to deliver the game by June next year.
We have a team of programmers that will be earning roughly £50 an hour and they estimate it take 1500 programming hours. We plan to hire a graphics artist as well.
The rest of the money will go on marketing but we're hoping the people who pledge will be the starting community and help get it to go viral.
With any project there's going to be tough times but our business approach is very integral and honest, so naturally we believe we have what it takes to make it a success.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
