We are proud to introduce our 3rd model - The Tempest Carbon. The first affordable high quality exotic Forged Carbon Timepeice created in the same process as luxury brands selling for over $10,000+usd.
We have been overwhelmed by the support we have received on Kickstarter. As a token of our appreciation, we have decided to include an extra strap with contrast orange stitching with every order (regardless if we hit our stretch goal or not!). In total you receive two straps which you can change depending on your mood.
*FEATURED HANDS ON REVIEW *
Because Forged Carbon is freakin awesome!! Due to its high strength and light weight, Forged Carbon was developed for use in aerospace, exotic racecars and high end sporting equipment…Only recently this high tech material has made its way into luxury watches and we have been obsessed with it. The luxury watch brands that use this material, charge between $10,000-$30,000 USD per watch! At these prices, owning a Forged Carbon watch maybe unrealistic and unobtainable for most collectors.
We set out to create a high quality FORGED CARBON watch using the same manufacturing processes and techniques at an affordable price point. The Tempest Carbon is the result.
While the exact process to create to a Forged Carbon watch is a closely guarded secret, what can be disclosed is that we use the same carbon material, manufacturing processes and techniques as the luxury brands. Raw carbon and resin are combined under extreme heat and pressure within a mold then allowed to cure. The resulting forged carbon case is then percision machined and finished before assembled into a complete watch.
The Raw Forged Carbon Case after it comes out of the mold. Requires final Machining and Finishing.
The heart of the Carbon features a Miyota Cal.9015 movement made by Citizen. We have used and tested this movement extensively in our previous watches and has proven to be highly accurate and reliable. *Full movement specifications can be found below*
The forged carbon process creates a unique and unpredictable marbling pattern where no two watches are the same. The movement is protected by an inner stainless steel case. Each watch is tested to 200m water resistance.
The Tempest Carbon's case back design is inspired by the Periodic Table of Elements and pays tribute to the element "Carbon".
Dial and Crystal
The crystal is made from highly scratch resistant Sapphire Crystal and the double dome crystal gives it an extra depth and dimension. The Dial features individually hand-applied markers filled with BWG9 Swiss Lumi-Nova to maximize visibility in low light. Additionally the Tempest logo and Second hand are also coated in orange luminous compound.
(Production watch will also have lumed second hand)

Where are we now
We have spent close to a year designing and developing the Tempest Carbon. After several prototypes and several modifications and changes to the design, we can now say that the Tempest Carbon has been perfected.
We have finalized all the designs, the engineering and prototyping has been completed. Our Manufacturing partners and suppliers lined up and ready to go. But due to the high cost of the Carbon, we need your help for the initial production run. In return you get a Tempest Carbon for a greatly reduced price.

About Tempest Watches
Tempest Watches was started in 2010. The brand was created at a time when everyone was using the same generic cases with slight variations to the dials. We knew we could do better. Our mantra was simple, to create timepieces that were not only high in quality but original in design. Since our inception, we have since introduced 2 highly acclaimed watches into the market, the Viking and the Commodore.

Risks and challenges
This is not our first watch to bring to market. We have already done all the engineering and prototyping. With a strong supplier base in place, we are ready for production.
No matter how much you plan, delays are inevitable and will happen. Though our experience launching watches to market we understand that communication is key and we will keep you informed of latest updates.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
