We spent over a year designing and developing the Tempest Carbon 2. We have finalized all the designs, the engineering and prototyping has been completed. We were unfortunately not successful with launching our first Carbon 2 Campaign back in 2016. We took our time to work with our manufacturing partners to reduce the manufacturing minimums and now we are back!
Forged Carbon was developed for use in aerospace, exotic race cars and high end sporting equipment…Only recently this high tech material has made its way into luxury watches and we have been obsessed with it. The luxury watch brands that use this material, charge between $10,000-$30,000 USD per watch! At these prices, owning a Forged Carbon watch maybe unrealistic and unobtainable for most collectors. We set out to create a high quality FORGED CARBON watch using the same manufacturing processes and techniques at an affordable price point.
The heart of the Carbon features a Miyota Cal.9015 movement made by Citizen. We have used and tested this movement extensively in our previous watches and has proven to be highly accurate and reliable. *Full movement specifications can be found below*
The forged carbon process creates a unique and unpredictable marbling pattern where no two watches are the same. Each watch is tested to 200m water resistance.
The Tempest Carbon's case back design is held down by 6 screws and the artwork is inspired by the Periodic Table of Elements and pays tribute to the element "Carbon".
Dial and Crystal
We have upgraded the crystal to a Super Dome Crystal made from highly scratch resistant. The Super Dome Crystal gives the Carbon 2 extra depth and dimension.
The Dial features individually hand-applied markers filled with BWG9 Swiss Lumi-Nova to maximize visibility in low light. Additionally the Tempest logo and Second hand are also coated in orange luminous compound.
The included High Quality Water-Resistant Nylon strap with leather lining measures 22mm wide at the case and tapers to 20mm at the black PVD coated stainless steel buckle.

Where are we now
We have spent close to a year designing and developing the Tempest Carbon. After several prototypes and several modifications and changes to the design, we can now say that the Tempest Carbon has been perfected. We have finalized all the designs, the engineering and prototyping has been completed.
We have paid the initial deposits and the Carbon 2 is being manufactured as we speak. The watches will be completed by June 2018 and will be shipped out into your hands by July 2018.
About Tempest Watches
Tempest Watches was started in 2010. The brand was created at a time when everyone was using the same generic cases with slight variations to the dials. We knew we could do better. Our mantra was simple, to create timepieces that were not only high in quality but original in design. Since our inception, we have since introduced 2 highly acclaimed watches into the market, the Viking and the Commodore.

Comments from backers for the Carbon 1 from our first Kickstarter Campaign (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tempestben/tempest-watches-the-first-affordable-forged-carbon)
Siddharth - "Had mine on the wrist for more than a week now - and I'm happy to report it's everything I expected and more. Love the barrel shape case, dimensions, electric lume, and even the miyota engine! That's in addition to the wicked texture of the case. This one's punching far above its weight."
CL Loh - "Just received mine. Beautiful."
HMC - "Another one that received theirs & I'm very satisfied. Seems like everything about it, the Forged case is obviously the star but the delivery, the packaging, straps & case were everything seems to be perfect. I was a little concerned even after reading the reviews that it may look big on my tiny 6 1/2 inch wrist-but no worries looks very good. Oh yeah I think someone mentioned the LUME-all I can say is WOW. Thanks Ben for the GR8 piece I hope the word really gets out & these become a hot commodity. Regards, HMC"
Rollin Crittendon - "I just got the watch in the mail. The packaging and everything is great. The watch is super-sharp & beautiful in-person. Nice work Tempest!"
Mehmet Kasap - "Got the watch from Ben yesterday, excellent quality, very comfortable, blue lume is crazy...nice wrist presence, no plastic feel at all. Incredibly unique experience at a good price. Great project, waiting for new watches from Tempest, thank you."
Bruce Levin - "Ben,I just received my watch. Thanks for the prompt shipping. The carbon is REALLY well done and the fit and finish has exceeded my expectations. The weight of the watch is also a surprise. It has a very nice heft and feels like a well crafted device, not at all a lightweight 'plastic like' watch as some people has expressed. I'm very happy. Best, Bruce
Risks and challenges
This is not our first watch to bring to market. We have already done all the engineering and prototyping. With a strong supplier base in place, we are ready for production.
No matter how much you plan, delays are inevitable and will happen. Though our experience launching watches to market we understand that communication is key and we will keep you informed of latest updates.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
