So much so that we need a device and applications that under no matter what condition, anyone can get around safely and see things they’ve never noticed before.
That is why we built Telepathy Walker, the world's first eyewear for discoveries while walking.

Walker's navigation/discovery app responds to voice commands. It’s totally handsfree, allowing you to look ahead even if you are carrying luggage in both hands. You can even have a VoIP call on Walker's chat application at the same time.
The problem with navigation apps is that they’re designed for driving, not walking. The detail you want is 20 feet at a time, not 100 feet or a mile. Worse if you are directionally challenged and unable to read maps.
Considering all the problems with existing navigation apps, we are currently developing a pre-installed navigation & local discovery app that adopts augmented reality and very intuitive user interface so that anyone, even the directionally challenged, never have trouble using while walking.

All you have to do to get to destinations is tell Walker where to go and simply follow the arrow!

In addition to our navigation/discovery app that people will never have trouble using, we are also developing other outdoor applications so that you can explore the world in completely new and entertaining ways.

We are also building our own web-based app marketplace where anyone can develop, distribute, purchase, and/install apps for Walker. Walker runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat, so anyone who has developed apps for Android OS can develop apps for Walker with ease. We will start developing mobile-friendly app marketplace once we succeed in this campaign and in fulfilling all the rewards.
We are now doing everything we can to create a vibrant developer community through communications, incentives, and technical supports.
Walker is more than just an idea. We have recently finished the final stage of prototyping and are ready to start mass-production. In fact, we successfully demoed Walker for 4 consecutive days.

There are no other devices that run on Android 4.4 and are cheaper and of better quality than Walker. Walker is also ready for production enough to stand with 4-consecutive demo days at CES 2016.
The thing about hardware is, however, it’s hard. It takes hard money to go to production. With this KickStarter campaign, we‘re looking to raise $115,000 mainly to get us into mass production. We firmly believe in Kickstarter's strong, innovative community and hope to explore this beautiful world together.
Walker is very light and small.

Last, but not least, we developed an original head mount whose magnet allows you to attach and detach Walker with great ease. The head mount ensures screen stability and can be worn over your prescription glasses too.

One of the problems with smartphones and smartglass is that you can't see clear image under bright sunshine. With Walker's patented display technology, you see a bright, high-resolution image no matter what the lighting condition may be.
What's more, unlike any other smartglasses, we designed our device so that you see both the screen and the world around you clearly at the very same time. Your eye doesn't need to focus on the image because it appears at the same natural distance as your naked eye. What this means is that you can walk around safely with your natural vision unaffected.
Walker is designed and developed in Japan. We have a very strong strategic partnership with a Japan-based top global electronics manufacturer, and are going to manufacture the device in Japan. Made-in-Japan quality at this price range is a STEAL!

In an attempt to create a small, light, and portable smart eyewear, we developed a brand-new SoC made up of CPU, memory controller, and input/output. By layering memory and storage device on top of the SoC, we successfully materialized a smart eyewear with a very small footprint.
Walker's optical design consists of two separate parts: eyepiece and display parts. This separation creates a space between the two, which enables natural vision that is not interfered by the device's components.
In order to attain natural vision and high usability, virtual image is located 2 meters ahead from the eyepiece. By this, we successfully reduced the moving distance of focus between background and virtual image.
We also invented a small, lightweight, high-light-efficiency, and low-power-consumption display module specialized for smart eyewear from scratch. Our optical design with reflective LCD enables a small display module with minimal cover on the wearer’s face. In addition, the optics with separated units enables see-through vision.
For high light efficiency, we used reflective liquid crystal for display device. Three colors of LEDs are used as a light source, and the adoption of sequential color suppresses the reduction of aperture ratio. In addition, we adopted a simple optical structure to reduce the loss of light efficiency derived from the optical parts. Due to this cutting-edge optical structure with integrated lens technology, we are able to show a world's best-in-class resolution, color reproducibility, and brightness with minimal components.

Risks and challenges

We think that the production risks are quite low since we have already produced "Telepathy Jumper", our B2B smart eyewear product, for various industrial customers and have done extensive trials in terms of hardware, middleware, OS(Android 4.4), and applications.
Our cutting-edge virtual display and optical system technologies have received extremely good reputations from industrial customers. These core technologies are used in Walker too and ready for high-volume manufacturing in cooperation with a Japan-based experienced electronics giant.
The components of Walker are already in production. we are working with well-established component suppliers and entire supply chain is already in place. Assembly site is also in Japan, which enables us to provide "Made in Japan" hardware quality.
Moreover, we successfully demonstrated several Android applications running on a prototype version of Walker at CES 2016, which proved that our product is ready for mass-production.
The risks are therefore minimal for producing Walker in volume for our Kickstarter backers, but there are certain risks that we would like to be honest and clear about.
For one thing, delivery date may be delayed approximately for a month or so, depending on FCC(USA) and IC(Canada) approval process.
Another risk is that whereas we are in talks and working with various application developers, some of the aforementioned applications EXCEPT for navigation/local discovery app may not be delivered at the expected launch dates. We are also trying our best to enable voice commands for all the applications installed on Telepathy Walker, but voice commands may be only available to navigation/local discovery app and several other applications at the time of delivery. We will keep backers updated about our development progress until and after delivery.
Lastly, if the device and/or attachments were malfunctioning or damaged at the time of delivery for some unexpected accidents, we will exchange the device with another unit if you contact us within the week after the delivery date. This return policy applies to every edition that includes one or more units of Telepathy Walker, even though the Hacker Edition, Early Bird Edition, Standard Edition, and Walker In Black Edition do not come with warranty.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
