TEEN TITANS FAN FILM: Is the first ever Live Action fan film developed by young, creative artist and film makers.
Project Overview: The Teen Titans Project Fan-Film/Web Series has been in veiled development for over 2 years and, as of March of 2012, official pre-production finally kicked off under the leadership of Chelton L. Perry. Chelton’s vision has always been to produce a fan-film based off of the comic book team, The Teen Titans. He wanted to prove that a younger generation of super heroes has what it takes to command a starring role. As DC comics owns the rights to all of their heroes, The Teen Titans Project does not and will not claim any rights to the characters being portrayed. This project is not intended to conflict with any canon projects which DC Comics/Warner Brothers is creating. None of our CAST or CREW will be paid for doing this project. The project’s goal is to make a spectacular volunteer short fan film/web series in hopes that people will be entertained and recognize the time and effort that each member of the TT team put into it.
Where are we now?? Over the past 7 months our amazing pre-production team has accomplished many things, including the development of gorgeous character costumes.
(Please see a sample of our concept art below: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.238507212936522.53348.210683199052257&type=3)
With our heroes’ designs well under way, we are ready to bring these costumes into the real world with a top-tier costume designer who has worked on such movies as Amazing Spider-Man and the New Superman: Man of Steel movie. Additionally, a custom soundtrack has been scored, including such tracks as the official Teen Titans Project Theme, Robin’s Theme, Wondergirl’s Theme, and Superboy’s Theme.

These are only a few of the amazing people working on this stellar production crew!
Why The Teen Titans? Our director has wanted to pay homage to the Teen Titans for a long time. He’s found the message that young heroes have the ability to save the world just as well as the older heroes to be inspiring. However, it’s bothered him that the younger heroes remain unnoticed by prominent industry features. Seven years ago, a company called UNTAMED CINEMA created a fan-made trailer called GRAYSON, in which Robin was the main character. The success of the trailer gave our director confidence that another sidekick-type fan film could, should and would be made. Thus, the seed of Teen Titans Project was planted. Clearly, Chelton’s vision for such a grand project, carried in his head for many years, could not remain private for long. It needed to grow, flourish, and be shared with a fan base always hungry for superhero tales of quality and fun. The Teen Titans Project team members are 100% passionate about making this happen, and will continue to do everything in their power to bring this project to life. But, in order to move ahead with our goal, we need your help and donations.
When will this be made? We will begin production in March of 2013, which is coming up very soon. There is still much to do but the team is confident that, with proper funding, we can gather all necessary resources in the allotted time.
Will I be able to see the Final Product? No, it’s just for us to watch. Go away. What do you think?!?!!? Of course you will! Our goal is to release the Teen Titans Project for free all over the web, in various film festivals, Comic-Cons, Anime-Expos, and quite simply any event we can find! This project will be out there for YOU! Additionally, our fans will be able to find the final productions, as well as development updates, on our official web site (still under construction), Facebook page and YouTube account. Plus, a few lucky people who donate will be able to see a special sneak peak of the project before it's released.
Why $35k? The members of our crew are incredible and have worked on no-budget independent films in the past, producing stellar products with all available supplies at hand. We know how to stretch the dollar to make a quality product, but in order to meet the Teen Titans Project’s ambitious needs, we ask that you donate so we can attain the proper resources such as: -DSLR Cameras
-Food for the actors
These are just a fraction of what your contributions will be going towards. Every dime can and will be used for the film to produce something spectacular.
Do I get anything In return? Absolutely! Based on a the scale of your donation, we’re excited to offer such rewards as:
- High-resolution downloadable Teen Titans Project wallpaper
- Teen Titans Project T-shirts
- Signed artwork by our Lead Art Director
- Credits in the production and our website
- Downloadable soundtrack for the Teen Titans Project
- Lunch with the cast and crew
- A Teen Titans Tower scale-replica
- For those who live in the SoCal area, you can acquire a ride in our CUSTOM MADE BATMOBILE! You heard it! Part of the funds for this project will go towards engineering a specially designed, drivable Batmobile. So, a few lucky sponsors will be able to take a ride in it! These are only some of the prizes we are offering for your donations. So, take a look at what we have to offer and please contribute!
Final Thoughts: The Teen Titans Project is being developed by a group of eager, talented individuals who simply want to create something amazing. Luckily, we’re knee deep in doing just that. Everything is in place; we just need the help of fans like you to help move this idea into a reality. This is not just OUR project; it's YOURS as well!
TITANS TOGETHER, TITANS FOREVER!
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
In the words of my favorite Robin Tim Drake, "People are right in thinking that confidence has a lot to do with being a good leader. It does. But that confidence is not about believing in your own ability, it's about believing in your team."
Fear, to be honest, is a challenge that hinders all of us when going into a project that you really want to do well. And I will admit, I am a scared because all of us want this project to succeed. When people here the word "FAN FILM" or "WEB SERIES" there expectations are not very high. I know mine aren't anyway. But on occasions, there is fan made work that surpass your expectations. When you look at it, you know that these people put alot passion, planning and dedication into the project. And that is the exact same thing we are doing. So we have to find creative ways to "stretch a dollar." We have to work on a budget but still produce something that looks and feels professional. And I have learned that sometimes the simple things you do in films can be the most effective.
When I first started this project, I was thinking Hollywood! Large, over the top, and epic. But then I went back and looked at older movies, and I began to realize that it was more about creativity and problem solving more than using fancy effects. Granted iv always know this, but when you decide to take on a "Heroic" type of film, you tend to forget about simplicity. As a team we have been going over are script, resources and the time that we have before filming. For instance, we all know that WonderGirls Lasso glows even when she is ot using it. So instead of going back and using VFX to make the glow, we had the great idea of putting reflective tape on the rope and focusing a light on the rope to give it the "glow". It's that kind of brain storming that shows us that we can figure out solutions, even for minor problems. We want to make this more than your typical "FAN FILM." But something that all of us can go back, look at and be proud of.
Something else we ran into was costumes. You have this argument that Superhero movies should mimic the comics almost 100%. And if one thing is off, the audience gets wild and mad and have long talks about how things "did not look like the comics." And yes, my original Idea was to bring the design out of the comics and produce them. But if you go back and look at them, the colors are WAY to bright. Robin alone is a rainbow of colors. But its those colors that make him Robin. So we had to go back and look at the past DC and Marvel movies that were made. Im Particular we looked at Avengers, and the Dark Knight movies that were made. Along with the trailer for Man Of Steel and Superman Returns. Avengers, kept their bright colors(with the exception of Hawkeye) and the movie worked WELL for them. On the other hand DC tends to do the opposite. Everything in their movies is much more muted. Seeing that, we realized it was good to keep wit that tone, but still keep the feel of each hero. So when robin comes on the screen you will say to yourself "That's Robin."
So besides that fact that we need to make this web series/fan film look Cinematic, and stretch the money we have to give it the most professional look possible we come to our most serious challenge. Our Costume made, original designed and fully drivable BATMOBILE. This alone should tell you how much we want this project to happen. That we would put our man power, into building a car, from scratch before March of 2013. Designing a car that has NOT been featured in any of the movies, comic books or video games is not an easy task. As the car will mostly be driven by Robin we had to find that happy medium of looking like THE BATMOBILE, but style it in such a way where it reflects the youth and agility and Robin. Don't worry, its still gonna be a black car and not some over colored clown car :). But even while designing it, we again had to go back and figure out how we could stretch our money to get this done. We have found various solutions that can be achieved while building the car and some things we can "add" in post-production but many of these elements on the car we want "real". Having more real elements instead of Computer Graphic seems to bring the viewer a litle closer to the movie. At least it does in my opinion. But I have to say, the way our minds have been working together, these solutions will be solved before filming day.
Even through all of this, when sometimes you just cannot see the light of day, we just have to push through. We don't know what people can go through until it happens. But I know that we will be able to achieve anything that comes about. Its all about trying the things you want, and making it happen. And even if you cannot make those things happen EXACTLY they way you want it, we find solutions to make it work. That's the fun part about making a movie.. Expecting the Unexpected.
