We are tedted Performance Group. We are a collaborative based in Brooklyn, New York established in 2016. We are fiscally sponsored by Unique Projects, Inc., a New York State not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization administrated by Pentacle/DanceWorks, Inc. www.pentacle.org.
We create research-based work and use many media to do so. Our work asks questions and doesn't concern itself with finding the answers. We believe pondering important questions are steps in the right direction.
After performing in countless venues around New York including 92nd Street Y, Hollows Art Space, Center for Performance Research, Gibney Dance Center, Peridance Capezio Center, and many more we are ready to present our work in a way that is fully in our control.
We are interested in creating a new work that seeks to examine life through a series of exits. As one thing leaves it creates space, does absence take up space?
We are seeking funding to not only rent a theater space but also to cultivate a brand new work.
Funds raised will be spent on the following:
- Studio Rental
- Theater Rental
- Documentation (photo and video of performances)
- Artist Payments
- Miscellaneous other expenses
We will stage these performances in the winter of 2018/2019 to coincide with the 3rd anniversary of the company's founding.
The performances will take place in Brooklyn, NY in a venue that is TBD based on availability.
This reason varies depending on how closely you examine the subject. As stated before, we want to present our work in the purest way it is conceived. Without a need to bend to time limits or other curatorial parameters. Zooming out to a more global view, the world is increasingly volatile. We want to interject an opportunity for audiences to have the uncomfortable conversations that ultimately help us understand others more. tedted Performance Group believes we all belong to one human race and that is the only way to group us. We want to bring people together.
The how can only happen through YOUR donations! Kickstarter is an "all or nothing" enterprise. If we don't meet our goal we get NOTHING.
Risks and challenges
Creating research-based work requires time. To fully delve into a concept, you must spend time with it, kick it around (in the dance sense, sometimes that's literal), drop it, pick it back up, knead it, and then see what you have. As overstated as it may seem, time really is money! For this reason we have not set an exact date for the performance. We promise, it will happen in winter but our priority is presenting the best developed work we can. That is what people deserve to see.
As a fiscally-sponsored group we do reap the benefits of being a non-profit and even with this most studio space is $10/hour. On top of this we are EMPHATIC about paying our artists. These two factors alone require large amounts of money.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
