aiRCam GP is a remote-controlled cable cam system that uses your GoPro or other small point and shoot video camera.

The idea for the aiRCam GP came about after we developed the aiRCam SC and the idea for SC came from a desire to reproduce shots like those captured from SkyCam and ZipCam.  We wanted a tool that would give the viewer the feel of a shot filmed from a production helicopter without the huge expense of money and time. The SC is a pro-grade cable camera system that is light-weight and designed to carry higher end video cameras and DSLR's.

But we still wanted a cable-cam system that was even lighter and could be carried in a backpack while mountain biking, hiking and skiing into hard to reach places.  It needed to be easy to set-up and operate.  It needed to be at home on the ski slope as well as the local skateboard park and soccer field.  It also needed to be extremely wallet-friendly.  So we developed the aiRCam GP.  Once the first prototypes were complete, we tested them extensively in a number of different environments in an effort to get you the best shots for the money.  All the cable shots from the video above were shot with aiRCam GP.

Features of the aiRCam GP:

  • Light-weight
  • Incredible Value
  • Easy to set-up
  • Variable Speed Motor
  • Pan and Tilt Head
  • Designed around GoPro but accepts many point and shoot cameras.
  • Rugged with replacement parts available

With the aiRCam GP you can get to where the action is and pull off that cinematic opening sequence when you get there.

Optional Hard Plastic Case:

Above is an example of the hard plastic case, only instead of pneumatic tools, it will hold the aiRCam GP and all the accessories including room for extra batteries and the tripod mount.  It may have foam or it may have formed plastic interior.  We'll see which one provides the best protection should you drop it off a cliff while setting up that awesome climbing shot in Yosemite.

Where's the money going?

With the money raised from Kickstarter, we will pay for the the stamps, dies and molds to make the body and arms as well as the wheels, gears, and other parts that make up the aiRCam GP.  The 3 original prototypes were machined on a CNC milling machine.  Producing them on the CNC machine would cause the retail price to be about triple what we are shooting for.  The tooling will allow us to hire plastics and metal production companies located right here in the United States (more specifically Florida).  Keeping the manufacturing here in Florida means more jobs in the US and better quality for you.

History

CineGear Solutions, Inc. is the company we formed to bring quality innovative film-making tools to the market.  One of our core values is 'To be a leader in the democratization of film-making'.  We believe that anyone can be a film-maker.  It still takes an ear for the story and an eye for the shot, but gear should not be the barrier to entry for aspiring directors.

FAQ's

Q. How long does the battery last   A. The included battery lasts for approximately 30 runs on 100'  It also depends on the angle of climb.

Q. What is highest angle of attack    A. aiRCam GP is designed to work with a line angle of up to 35°.  However, the steeper the climb, the shorter the battery life will be.

Q. Can I order additional batteries    A. Yes, We will definitely offer additional batteries.

Q. Can I get longer line?   A. Yes, the aiRCam works with almost any small braided cord.  We have run it on 500' of line.

Q. How hard is it to set up.   A.  It can be easy as stringing a line between two trees limbs.  The production version aiRCam GP will be designed to hook over the line without any disassemble or removing the line.

Q.  What if I have a different camera than a GoPro  A. The bottom of the gimbal has a number of 1/4" holes arrayed to allow you to connect any small point and shoot using the 1/4"-20 threaded hole in the bottom of the camera.
