Along with Spring being right around the corner, mid-March means Game Developers Conference in San Francisco! The Technical Illusions team arrived Tuesday morning and will be hosting meetings, talking with press, and giving demos in their private meeting room March 19th, 20th, and 21st. For anyone who was already planning on attending GDC, come see us! You’ll find us in Moscone Center North Hall, BMR2826, on the far right side of the hall in the Business Center, past the Career Center.

For those of you who are wanting to give castAR a try and are willing and able to hightail it to SF, we just came across a handful of extra expo passes for Thursday (show’s open 10am-6pm) and Friday (show’s open 10am-3pm)! If you’re interested in using one of them, email Christina at by Wednesday, March 19, 6:00pm PST. All requests will be pooled and recipients will be determined by lottery. Please write, “GDC 2014 - Kickstarter Passes” in the subject line of your email, and clearly indicate what day(s) you would like to attend. We’re excited to meet more of you in person! 

Since the completion of the Kickstarter campaign, we’ve been busy building out our team on all fronts - hardware, software, and business. We’ve built several revisions of the HD glasses which have achieved reductions in overall size and chip design. We’ve made great strides in sourcing our parts as well as developing relationships with manufacturing partners. We’ve needed to (and will continue to) put in our due diligence with our designs, choices, and partners. Diligence takes time, and the entire process has consumed more of it than we originally anticipated. As we push towards the manufacture of the early developer glasses - originally anticipated for April / May delivery - we’re expecting a minor delay. We apologize for this inconvenience, but rest assured, we want to deliver a high quality product that exceeds your expectations. As our backers, we wanted you to hear it for us first, and to give you as much advanced notice as possible. We will continue to keep you informed as we march forward. 

As for advancements, our mini game team of Josie, Allen and Ryan have whipped up The Zombie Maze. Check out these great screen shots!

We’ll be using this demo at GDC, and we plan to keep working on it after the show - it’s only going to get better from here. 

We’re well on our way to delivering your castAR glasses with some killer software - que music - so you can have the time of your lives!
