OUR LIFELONG DREAM
Vanish: A killer Board-Game has been a long time coming for us. Every Saturday we have a board game night with our friends. We love the idea of cooperative games but something that could be cooperative or competitive was something we loved to play. We thought it was a good change of pace once in a while. Dice and decision making have always been our favorite elements in a game. RPG style and fighting style is another thing we seemed to enjoy. Equipping items to our characters, having an inventory to control was fun as well. A game of luck and strategy always is a lot of fun. Having both makes the game interesting. Vanish is a dream of ours. Creating something that anyone can play and understand and taking our favorite mechanics and adding them to one game!
ABOUT THE DEVELOPER
I have always been a bit of an entrepreneur. I love creating things! I'm 31 years old, a father of 3, and I'm married to my lifelong spouse. My children are 1,4, and 5. They are what drives me to create. This is my first time using kickstarter. The reason I need kickstarter is because I'm a pretty average guy. I'm a lucky guy but fairly average. I only have so much money to fund what I need funded. I have done what I could with the money I have to create vanish. I'm hoping with your support I can lift this prototype from where it is and offer it world-wide. When I'm not creating things I am a contractor. I love to fish on my time off and spend all the time I can with my family. Family and friends are the most important thing to me. As a backer you will become part of my family and friends and you can sleep well at night knowing your money is going to be used to fund a project that other families/friends will enjoy for years to come!
GAME BASICS AND RULES
Vanish: A Killer Board-Game takes place after a nuclear fallout. Every character has a background of how they experienced the fallout. Each player starts as a survivor. Once a 13 or 3 6's are rolled a player becomes deranged. Once deranged the player becomes a killer, hunting survivors. The survivors goal is to kill all the killers or build the car and get out . The killers goal is to kill all the survivors and prevent them from leaving. Each character is able to loot, attack, and share items and information with other players. As the game progresses there is a chance at finding additional survivors, but watch out the killer may find a friend along the way as well! The game can be played with up to 8 players! Up to 6 survivors and 2 killer players! There is currently 18 survivors and 6 killers available to play! Each survivor starts with a set amount of health. The killers health is determined by the amount of survivors on the board when they come out! Killers can place barricades to keep survivors from going somewhere or to lure them in one direction! Survivors may be able to remove barriers as well! During play you may fill up your stash to use during a fight. Placing cards in your stash takes skill! The only cards you can use during an attack are from your stash! Stash limits and hand limits make the game not only luck based but skill based as well! Draw piles are determined randomly and may cost you more to search. Watch out, under that token may be a draw pile or could be a trap! No one knows! Baracades, traps, and draw piles bring a new excitement to the board and allow the board to be different during each play through! Do you have it in you to survive or will you VANISH?!!
KILLER: TO KILL ALL THE SURVIVORS AND SURVIVE!
SURVIVOR: TO KILL ALL THE KILLERS AND SURVIVE OR GET OUT ALIVE!!
HOW TO PLAY:
Each player draws one survivor character card. This is your starting character. Each player starts with (2) dice. (1) for each survivor +1. These are known as action dice.
Each player rolls all action dice and places them in their unused action die box.
The first person to roll a total of (3) 6's or a dice roll totaling 13 becomes the killer. EXAMPLE: Turn (1) Tommy rolls a (3) and (6). Tommy gets a (6) counter. Turn (2) Tommy rolls a (1) and (6). Tommy then receives another (6) counter. Turn (3) Tommy finds another survivor and receives another die. He rolls a (4) (5) (4) totaling (13) Tommy removes all his survivors (keeps his equipment cards) and rolls for a killer card. Tommy is now the killer! He replaces his pawn with the corresponding killer pawn he draws! I hope you weren't near Tommy when he became the killer!
SURVIVORS TURN: As a survivor you can do multiple actions and non-actions on your turn.
ACTIONS: Actions require spending a die roll equal to or greater than required total. Dice may be combined to total an actions requirement. EXAMPLE: Tommy needs a (6) to search the area he is in. He rolls a (3) and a (4). His dice total is (7). Hey may spend all dice to search in the area. The remaining (1) Dice total is consumed and can’t be used for anything else.
ACTIONS THAT REQUIRE SPENDING DICE:
• Sharing (any number of dice can be used) share any item with a survivor in the same area (one space away).
• Equipping an item: some items have a equip price, some do not. Equipable items with no equip cost require (1) unused dice of any amount.
Removing an item costs the same as equipping.
NON-ACTIONS THAT REQUIRE NO DICE:
• Sharing information: showing a survivor in your area what’s in your hand or secret stash. (Areas where sharing information is allowed is outlined in dark border on game board.
ATTACKING: Attacking a killer is risky but may be needed to help a fellow . In order to attack an action die MUST be spent. Attack= action die(s) + equipment buffs. You may attack as many times as you have dice for on your turn.
DEFENDING: Defending yourself is crucial and important as a survivor and as a killer. In order to defend you MUST have a unused action die(s). Defense= action die(s) + equipment buffs. If you can not defend yourself from an attack all damage MUST be taken.
In order to move after a defense play you MUST wait until your turn UNLESS you try to RUN!
RUNNING: Running away from a killer is always an option. Once a killer has stated he/she will be attacking you, you have (2) choices. You may run or defend yourself. Running requires an action die. Running= action die(s) + equipment run buffs. If you are successful at running you may move the squares you were successful running with. If you do not get away you become defenseless against the killers attacks and MUST take all the damage dealt. Running is determined on killers lowest number die!
SEARCHING: Searching is crucial to a survivor as well as a killer. During searches you may find useful items such as: weapons, vests, health kits, stamina boost, and car parts. Each item is described in the cards description on what they do. SEARCHING requires spending die(s). Each search location MAY be different so be sure to know the area you’re in! Some cards/equipment give you buffs to your searching ability. Only one buff for searching can be used at a time! Good luck!
MOVING: Moving requires spending an action die(s). Moving is not required every turn. Make your decision wisely. You MAY spend more than (1) action die to move. EXAMPLE: Tommy has a (3) and a (2) in his unused action die box. He may move up to 5 squares combining his action die. Some items give you buffs to moving and may be added to action die(s).
EQUIPPING AN ITEM: To equip or unequip an item action die(s) must be spent. Some items have a required fee to equip/unequip. Items that have no fee to equip cost (1) die of any number to equip/unequip
MORAL/ABILITY DIE(S): morale dice are earned differently by each survivor! Ability dice can be saved and used for anything! If used for attack/defense/ run the used ability dice must come from the survivor it’s being used for!
THE CAR: Building the car as a team of survivors is not required to win the game but gives the survivors an alternative way to win! In order to build the car you MUST find all the pieces and MUST all be together in one person’s stash. Once the vehicle is built at least one survivor from each player must be in the same area. Once the survivors are together they may state that they have built the car and prove it to the killer! If the survivors are successful they win the game and the killer lose! If you receive a car part as a killer you may keep it away from the survivors by keeping or discarding.
BARRIERS: You may find a add or remove barrier card while searching. As a survivor these cards are for removing (1) barrier the killer has placed on the board. These can be played directly from your hand..
DYING AS A SURVIVIR: Dying as a survivor is not the end of the game (unless you’re the last survivor). If you die as the survivor you may discard all of your cards and draw a new survivor card and start with a new survivor! Remember the goal as the killer is to kill all the survivors! All the cards from a dead survivor go into the discard pile.
As a killer you start with 2 action dice and add 1 per killer!
ATTACKING: You MUST be one square away from survivor to attack. If the survivor is equipped with any weakness you have you lose corresponding attack points. If a survivor is a rival they get a (+1) boost to defending against you. All buffs from equipment apply to attack dice. If you’re equipped with a card that is stated on your killer card you get additional buffs! You may attack more than one survivor per Turn!
DEFENDING: Defending as a killer you MUST have action die(s). You will receive buffs based on equipped cards and killer buffs on your killer card! Killers can not heal at any point during a game but may put heal cards in their secret stash to keep away from survivors, unless they receive killer items to help heal!
MOVING: moving as the killer is the same as moving as a survivor. Action die(s) must be spent.
SEARCHING: Searching as the killer is the same as the survivors. Action die(s) must be used.
EQUIPPING AN ITEM: As a killer you equip and unequip items the same as the survivor.
RUNNING: Killers cannot run from attacks!
ABILITY DIE(S): Ability die(s) are earned by killing survivors. You may roll the ability die(s) once per turn until used. The number on the die MUST correspond with the ability cost on your killer card. Once spent the die(s) are replaced back in the game box. You may only activate an ability once per Turn! Abilities give your killer a hand up!
BARRIERS: As the killer barrier cards allow you to place a barrier anywhere on the board! Remember don’t block out survivors, you have to kill them all to win!
WINNING AS THE KILLER: There are 4 game difficulties. Easy, medium, hard, and KILLER! Easy is played with 6 campers, medium is played with 8 campers, hard is played with 10 campers, and killer is played with all 18 survivors and 2 killers!
OTHER GAME RULES:
HAND SIZE: survivors(s)/Killers may only have 5 CARDS IN their hand at a time.
SECRET STASH: A secret stash is a usable hand of cards separate from your hand. You may only have 8 CARDS IN your stash at a time. You may only equip/unequip items from your stash. You may put items from stash into your hand or items from your hand into your stash on your Turn! Health items may only be used out of stash and can be used at any time!
EQUIPMENT: Survivors/ Killers may have up to 4 CARDS equipped to their character as follows:
• One head/face item
• (1) weapon
• One foot item
• One pocket item (radio, balloon, lighter, etc..)
SHARING DICE AMONG SURVIVORS:
If you control more than one survivor you may use action dice for (1) or more survivors. EXAMPLE: Billy controls Tommy and Sarah. He has a total of (3) action dice. He may use all dice for just Tommy or can split them between the (2) survivorsrs as he feels necessary. You may not share action dice with other players!!
2 PLAYER GAME: During a 2 PLAYER game no more than 2 killers can actively be on the board at once!
3 PLAYER GAME: During a 3 player game no more than 3 Killers can actively be on the board at once!

-18 draw/trap/food board tokens. These are randomly placed as they run out on the board.

FUNDING GOALS AND FUTURE ADD-ONS
Our largest goal is not only to mass produce and offer an amazing game, but to continue growing and building it. Any and all funds will be used to do just that! Our customer and fan base is what will drive us to continue expanding and learning.

-Upgrade and enhance game board
-upgrade and enhance all cards: player cards, equipment, etc.
-Add a few aspects to the game we didn't get to add due to funding: more equipment, drinks, food, tokens
-upgrade tokens and player pieces: we would like to personalize the character pieces based on the character
-Art: we would like to afford a high quality artist to work with us on some of our art work
FUTURE FUNDING GOALS
We would like to use some of the funding goal to add on an expansion featuring more killers and survivors, new areas, new ways to play the game, new items and tokens. Some of our ideas include:
-Plots: a new way to play with a set objective for killer and survivor
-Survival Play: a new way to play cooperatively trying to survive the harsh elements
-Cooperative play: A way to all play against a board killer
-New areas with different weather elements attached to them to add to survival
-New items to help protect against elements and help with survival techniques.
