Long Live Homeworld

To all our contributors: Thank you for supporting the SaveHomeworld.com project,

Homeworld will escape the THQ bankruptcy to a new home, however, that home will not be with teamPixel, LLC. The auction for the Homeworld license ended April 15, 2013, and while we reached qualified bidder status for the bankruptcy auction, we were unable to raise the necessary funds to remain competitive against the other parties at the auction. We hope you will join us in supporting Homeworld's new owners in building a future for the franchise. We anticipate an announcement of the new owner to be made within a couple weeks and for the sale to be finalized around mid-May.  Words cannot describe how honored we are to have been supported by so many in the community.

As promised, we are offering full refunds to all of our generous donors. To facilitate this process, we've established a website where you can verify that we have properly recorded all of your contributions, supply us with any special instructions for your donation, and track your refund. As a special thanks, we would like to offer each and every donor a special credit in our upcoming space RTS game. Yes, this means we will still be moving forward with our own Homeworld-inspired space RTS, but under our own intellectual property. We hope all of you will stay in touch and follow us during the production of our game.

Please visit http://teampixel.com/save-homeworld to track your refund using the login credentials sent to your Kickstarter/Indiegogo/PayPal account e-mail.  We will provide donors with 5 business days to send us any special instructions before we automatically attempt a refund to your original PayPal or Amazon Payments account.  In the event that these accounts are unavailable, you must provide us with an address to send a money order (USA donors only) or an accessible PayPal.  Feel free to contact us for any assistance through the refund portal or using billing@teampixel.com.  We are here to serve you!

Sincerely,
Your fellow Homeworld fans at teamPixel

The refunds apply to anyone who has donated to us via Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and PayPal. If you still haven't received your e-mail, feel free to bump your request to the top of the e-mail queue manually using: http://teampixel.com/save-homeworld/reset

It's a refund for Kickstarter and the other previous attempt at getting enough $ to buy the IP of Homeworld. Since they were not able to do so they will refund all that $. I do not know if they will attempt to ask for money to make there own homeworld type RTS or self fund that effort.

    3. Creator William Limratana on April 18, 2013

Does this mean this kickstarter will not happen? Or is this only a refund for those who have donated to save-homeworld and not the kickstarter? Please clarify this. Some of us did not even know there was a Save Homeworld project.

Thanks for the heads up. I was worried about not getting that mail.

    5. Creator teamPixel, LLC on April 17, 2013

It looks like our mailserver isn't up for the number of donors we have to e-mail. We're working on setting up another message server.

Very sad. Please let us know if you ever have new plans for homeworld - or something similar.
Just hope the IP was not bought by one of the big publishers, that we all like sooo much and who will ruin the IP for sure.

      I'm so sad!

    8. Creator Tirseau on April 17, 2013

Bummer, props for trying and keep truckin' on.

    9. Creator Felix on April 17, 2013

No worries guys and thank you so much for the attempt to bring us back to our homeworld ^^ Gonna back your future projects so keep going !

      at all is slim....

    11. Creator Nian on April 17, 2013

Any idea how much it went for? Companies like EA buy game IP's just so none else gets it and maybe they will use it 20 years late to release a game with the same name and minor lore from it. E.g. Syndicate.

The likelihood of this game getting a release at ask us slim at best now.

    12. Creator ET3D on April 16, 2013

I hope you're planning to contact the winner to try to get a license and continue the planned work anyway. Even if the winner plans to create Homeworld 3 on their own, letting you do Homeworld Touch and a Homeworld revamp would be a smart move for them IMO.

I'd also like to think that teamPixel was the cause of the interest by other companies. Homeworld fans have shown that there's interest in the franchise, by giving a significant amount of money to an unknown company.

    13. Creator Asmon Lacroix on April 16, 2013

The silver lining for Homeworld is that there was actually was competition for the IP. So, I'm fairly hopeful they will not sit on it and not transform it into an AngryBirds Homenest. This setback, didn't kill you, so come back to Kickstarter better, bigger and stronger. I'm looking forward for your next Kickstarter.

    14. Creator woolenthreads on April 16, 2013

I hope the winnning bidder builds another "Homeworld" game because sitting on the title is bad form when there are people willing to develop it.

    15. Creator Haggo on April 16, 2013

If whoever got the IP mucks it up, I'll have to bite their heads off. :o(
Good luck on your own IP and keep us informed.

    16. Creator Michael Sturm on April 16, 2013

      What a pity :(

    17. Creator KazuyaDarklight on April 16, 2013

Well that sucks. I will still look forward to your own IP. As someone else said, you should look into kickstarting it. I only hope that whoever the winners were, they picked up with the intent to actually do something with it and not just sit on it indefinitely.

    18. Creator Marlin May on April 16, 2013

      Bah! Humbug!

    19. Creator DaChmielu on April 16, 2013

I'm sorry for being suspicious, it's just in my nature :(
Too bad Teampixell couldn't obtain the IP, you guys had potential. :)
I hope new owner will re-release legacy homeworld just like you guys planned, and won't screw up good name of homeworld *cough* Ea *cough*.
May i suggest starting new kickstater for "not homeworld" 3?
i think space rts could use some fresh air :)

    20. Creator Chris Norman on April 16, 2013

      Sad Panda.

    21. Creator teamPixel, LLC on April 16, 2013

Login credentials for the refund site are still being spooled through our mail server. I'll post another comment once the outbox has cleared.

    22. Creator Rob Chant on April 16, 2013

Sad news indeed, but at least the fact that serious bidding occurred means that Homeworld will live on. I'm looking forward to your own release as well!

    23. Creator Rob Harman on April 16, 2013

      Worst news.
