Gray World is a sidescroller puzzle game where you control a gray creature that has obtained a mysterious power, allowing him to advance through the four zones this game has, each one with it’s different gimmicks. Dialogs will let you learn the story of the game while you progress through each level.

At the end of each zone, you will face big and strong bosses, which share meanings in common.

In the world of Gray World, thousands of creatures live in a plain, empty and clean world, where the concepts of joy, anger, fear or those of other feelings don’t exist. But one day, one of those creatures diverges from the fixed, permanent path they always follow, like a drop of color on an empty canvas. This creature sees a glowing door and decides to enter, changing his destiny for the rest of his life.

We, Team Nayn, are a small group of indie developers that want to focus on telling stories and experiences and try to center your enjoyment on the moments you spend in the game. You are probably asking, why Kickstarter? Well, you see, it might seem like we’re asking a small amount that we could get easily by another methods, but we live in situations that do not allow us to spend money on personal projects like this. Besides that, we thought Kickstarter would be a good platform to show the world what we are doing.

Risks and challenges

We have already completed about 70% of the game, so there’s little risk of us not being able to finish it. There could be always unexpected problems, like sudden hardware failure which forces one of the developers to write this segment of the Kickstarter description on a random notebook that luckily found around his house, for example. But what are the chances of that happening? Pretty low, we believe.

But besides moments of mostly bad luck that no one could ever foresee, the game design has nothing complex left that could slow down the progress of the project.

One of the problems that comes from using something like Unreal Engine 4 is that setting up the needed compiler infrastructure in order to release the game on PC, Mac and Linux has been proven to be a nightmare. For this reason, demos for now will only be released for PC and Mac, but we promise to release the final game for Linux too.
