Over the last year we wrote and recorded a full length album about romance, relationships, and perspectives on love. It follows two characters (Ricky and Dana) and all the ways they could have fallen in and out of love over the course of their lives. This has been a long process of interviewing friends about their romantic lives, writing and rewriting songs.
We've had a lot of friends help make this project something really special. Mary Bryce (Smiile), Blair Howerton (Why Bonnie), Caleb Doughty (Indoor Creature), Marcus Bell (Indoor Creature), Danielle Gonzales, Sonia Margolin, Erin Obrien, Daniel Mendoza, and Lauren L'Amie all played or sang on this album. It's by far the most collaborative album we've made, and the process has been extremely rewarding, both personally and for the music.
We've also been hard at work on music videos for this album! We've already shot two videos: one stop motion and one live action. The stop motion shoot was a grueling 50 hours over the course of 4 days in which we took over 3000 photos of miniatures that we handmade with the help of our friends. For the live action video Helios Co-op generously gave us a room for a week to paint and tile and fill with mannequins. We are super excited to share these videos with you and we want to try and make two more for this album if we can raise the funds for it!
Why we need money
We've spent a lot of time on this project and we want to do the best possible job releasing it, but that costs a lot of money. We've been saving money for the past year, and we can cover about $9000 of these expenses ourselves, but we did the math and we are $6000 short. Here are just some of the expenses we are looking at:
- Mastering - making sure the music sounds it's best
- PR - introducing our music to a larger audience
- Tour - renting a tour vehicle, food, etc
- Merch - fulfilling all the kickstarter perks
- Music videos - paying crew, props, location rental, etc
Risks and challenges
If we can successfully raise that money through this kickstarter, then we can put the album out in a professional and meaningful way. If not, we will have to decide what to sacrifice (canceling tour dates, cancelling music videos, etc).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
