Day 1: The adventure begins & The School of Games

Hello!

What an incredible start to the campaign, we didn't only fund in an hour, but we've already reached £100,000 and have over 1,000 backers. It's incredible, thank you so much for joining us on this new adventure!

For those who backed our last campaign I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for returning, and for those of you who are new, I thank you for your support and hope you enjoy this new adventure with me!

Ready?

Over the duration of the Kickstarter I will be releasing daily quests giving you the opportunity to earn Experience Points for the Kickstarter. In addition, for every £20,000 we raise I'll add another 2xp to the total. You can monitor the progress on the Kickstarter campaign page at any time by checking this graphic:

We've already raised £100,000 so we're at level 2!

The daily quests will be posted on our website everyday, and I will also be posting them in the comment section on Kickstarter, and on Facebook, Twitter and Board Game Geek. I'll include them in our Kickstarter updates as I make them, but I don't want to send you emails everyday so will send them in groups.

To take part, all you need to do is read the quest and then follow the instructions on the card! The quests will vary each day, some will be physical tasks, others will be trivia or directly related to adding to the world or playing the game. We're going to start with something you can do right here in the comments of this update, but be warned, these quests will not be easy and you will need to work together!

The School of Games

Before Vesh came, there used to be a place called the School of Games. Not much was known about this mysterious academy, but sometimes one of their Games Masters would venture out into the lands, orchestrating mind-boggling challenges of dexterity and wits, for which the hopeful champions would receive rare and precious riches. The School vanished before the Darkhand had a chance to destroy it, but now, it seems, the last Games Master of the School of Games has resurfaced, and is at the Inn of Lost Hope with a new series of games for the daring heroes of the world...

Day 1 - The Games Masters’ Questions

If you know the answer to any of these, then post them in the comments below, you don't need to know them all as this is a cooperative adventure and you'll do better if you work together.

You have until the end of the Kickstarter to complete the quests!

The coming month

The next month is going to be great, alongside The School of Games I will be doing live streams, running events and more! So, you joined at the right time, and once again, thank you for joining us on this adventure!

Hmm well I may just need to walk away from this 1. I've been through every component and the manual. I've got some wild guesses mainly around item cards like Nogle but nothing that pokes me in the eye and says this is it! I hope this isn't a trick question haha I'm sure it isn't. I can't wait to find out the answer and be amazed at how a piece of info like this could be so hidden in plain sight.

Awesome thanks Frank, I've got hope again to discover the answer!

Hey Robert, I'm happy to confirm it's directly related to Brutius the Broken and the answer is inside every edition of the game.

It is a very hidden piece of information though!

Frank can you maybe provide a hint on this bonus question? I've found in the artbook and the character description Brutius has the absolute least amount of info. I've scoured the whole game, stories, scenarios, the entire artbook. I've looked at both KS, the website and I simply just can't find anything close to a reference about this question.

I'd love to know is it in a video? Is it written somewhere? And are we referring to the Brutius from this game? I've found that name is used in some Warhammer stuff. I'd like to assume it is the CoK character but drawing blank on any info I'm starting to 2nd guess that. If you've got a better clue you're willing to impart that would be awesome too.

      Afraid not!

    8. Jason Winterfeld on

Could Brutius' favorite chef be himself??? I know I am my own favorite chef because I always cook what I want....

      --- UPDATE ---

      Quest complete!

Congratulations, the quest has been completed.

The bonus question still remains unsolved, but the initial 2XP has been awared!

      The answers are:

      1) Chelon
      2) Old V’Sheel
      3) 280
      4) Trousers / Pants
      5) The Makar Ichi

You've still got 30 days to find the answer to the bonus question for extra points!

      There are multiple.

    11. Philomorph on

Assuming there's only one Games Master, shouldn't the apostrophe be before the s?

Maybe the bonus question is answer in the Youtube video of "The inn of Lost Hope"

It's looking like you've got the answers to the first 5 guys and gals, so good job! I'm glad to see you managed to work them all out!

The bonus question however, well good luck with this one!

Yeah, it’s Old V. Sirius is correct. For the cook... It seems to be Chef, because Chief Cook is an enemy.

It sounds to me like the Cyrrus Order is the group or whatever that you are in (or joining), and these are the lessons of that group - but old v'sheel is the one who sets the lessons as tasks for you. The specific person, not the group everyone is part of. Does that make sense?

    16. Missing avatar

      Jeff Clark on

From Vadoran Gardens rulebook on the BGG page
“You are a Vadoran acolyte and must prove yourself ready to become High Priestess of the Vadoran Gardens. You will need to water the flowers, feed the animals and clean ancient relics as you study the 10 final lessons of the Cyrrus Order.”

So two possible answers, though the campaign page one is probably right.

Also for anyone asking I cannot find the answer to #6 in the art book. Out of all the characters Brutius actually has the smallest amount of text. I'm guessing Hodl because of the item card Hodl's apron though honestly this is probably a blacksmith apron.

Chef because there is a side quest referencing Chef as someone else pointed out on the main comments.

Another refers to a Chief Cook.

      Bonus question: Hodl or Chef?

    19. Missing avatar

      Sirius on

It is Old V'sheel - on the campaign page it says "Players take it in turns to play cards while trying to connect similar tasks such as feeding animals, watering flowers and cleaning relics, as they try and complete the lessons set by Old V'Sheel."

I think we have to present one list for Frank. So we have to decide the answer for 2) - Cyrrus Order or Old V‘Sheel? The former high priest looks for the new one? Makes sense. So now I’m for Old V.

      4. Pants
      5. Ichi (Makar)
      6. I am guessing this is in the art book somewhere?

    23. Itai Rosenbaum on

@Rene - The answer to #1 is in the component list for the Rapuil & Neoba character pack.

      2. Cyrrus Order
      3. 280, one of the Alfhild, Thralir‘s wife
      4. Pants
      5. Ichi, a flying Makar

    26. Bush on

      5. A Makar!

Nowhere near my game right now but off the top of my head:
      2) Cyrrus Order
      4) Pants

Thralir lost 280 kin! That is the answer to question 3!
