About this project
What is Di Renjie?
Di Renjie（DRJ）is a delightful deduction card game for 2 to 6 players. It is a family game with lots of interaction that everyone should enjoy.
The theme of the game is loosely based on a famous politician and detective DRJ during Tang Dynasty, and you may find in-depth history information on wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Di_Renjie.
DRJ is for age 10+. It takes about 10 min to learn and 30 min to play.
Why Do I Want to Design Di Renjie?
In the past I have published several board games but never a deduction game. Also I want to design a compact and portable deduction card game, so people who enjoy playing them can take Di Renjie everywhere they go.
Goal of the Game
At the beginning of the game, one card from each Target, Weapon and Location elements are secretly placed inside the box. Player then during the game must try to collect (remove from the pool) as many sets of cards as possible in order to deduce what could be the number on those hidden element cards (inside the box).
Ending and Scoring
After eight sets of clue are revealed, game continues until the last player finishes his/her turn. Each player writes his/her answer on mobile phone or piece of paper, then uncover the three crime cards. If players together as a team successfully deduce all three elements, each player receives points for his/her correct deduction and clue sets collected. The player with most point wins the game. However, if the players weren't able to deduce all three aspects of the crime as a team, they fail, the murder takes place and all players lose the game.
DRJ also comes with a 5-6 player Assassin Expansion. If all players agree to play the Assassin Expansion, add the Assassin card into the game deck and follow the rules in the green box.
How Different is it from the Clue?
When playing the Clue, players deduce the crime cards by asking question and eliminate the known factors. When playing Di Renjie, players deduce by card set collection, and Suspects is added into the game to make the deduction more dynamic and interesting. I
In Di Renjie, the game ends in a specific term, and winning is determined by victory point. The game can also play in teams of two or three, and it comes with an Assassin expansion for advance players.
Where Will The Money Go?
With $5,000, I am able to print a small quantity at a very high cost, but it will definitely be a great start for my first Kickstarter project :) All the artwork, prototype, etc are already paid for. Majority of fund from Kickstarter will go into printing the game and others such as packing and shipping the cards out to backers.
Pledge - Family Collection (Previously "Play Personal" pledge)
What is a custom copy? It is a hand-made laser printout of one entire set of Di Renjie deck of cards packaged in the Di Renjie box. In Play Personal I Pledge, you may choose to replace five images of your own.
Pledge - Prototype Collector
The prototype is the only copy made with final artwork, and it was used during the making the Kickstarter video. The prototype is also a hand-made copy created by the author.
Pledge - Name on the Box and Rulebook
For this pledge, your name will be printed in the lower section with a big "Thank you!"
How close is the game to completion?
Entire game is completely finished and ready for production.
DRJ comes with a rulebook in English, and Chinese and Geman language rule will be ready for download soon. If you would like, you may download and review the English rule here http://sunrisetornado.com/direnjie/DiRenjie_2012.pdf
Di Renjie Kickstarter Exclusive Mug
Di Renjie Mug is only available through Kickstarter. Its dimension is 9.2cm in height and 8.0cm in diameter. Some studies show drinking out of Di Renjie mug may increase your logical deducation by quite a lot :) Btw, it is not suitable for dishwasher and microwave, seriously.
I want to take this final paragraph to thank you for taking your time learning about Di Renjie and the project. I hope you have decided to back this project and take advantage of the great rewards being offered. Your support, no matter what size, is always appreciated.
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
