A Plus - A Game for Children with Autism
A game designed to reinforce and improve social skills for children on the autism spectrum.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Wed, November 21 2018 7:59 AM UTC +00:00.
The creative team behind the recently published <Cat Rescue> presents <A Plus>, a project from the bottom of our hearts that will be ready to ship in time for Christmas. <A Plus> is a 2 to 4 player cooperative card game designed to be a fun way to reinforce the value of social skills for autistic children. With the help of an adult, players work together to complete a series of activities. At end of the game, players receive an A+ if they completed all six activities.
Our goal is to share this useful game and idea with the world and to fund more educational and fun games for children on the autism spectrum in the future.

- <A Plus> is not planned to be available in retail stores.
Every <A Plus> pledged in this Kickstarter campaign will come with a <Cat Rescue> Carrier expansion. The Carrier expansion, which consists of a single card exclusively to backers of this campaign, essentially adds another foster home to the game and holds one cat.
When funding reaches $3,000, we will add a new pledge level for 2019 Essen Spiel pick up. Each copy is $7 and shipping is free.
I am passionate about A Plus for personal reasons.
After watching the TV shows “Atypical” and “The Good Doctor,” both of which feature autistic characters, I became more aware of the lives that autistic people lead (or at least the Hollywood version of those lives). That knowledge inspired me to challenge myself to make a small contribution to the autistic community by creating a game suitable for autistic players. So I began researching games and activities suitable for autistic children.
Then, on a flight back to Los Angeles from the Gen Con 2018 gaming convention in Indianapolis, I happened to meet and strike up a conversation with a psychology graduate student who was working on a grant to study infants with autism. This chance encounter motivated me further to complete the game. Before long, the design of A Plus was finished.
A Plus is easy to learn, teach, lead and play. I hope it will contribute something positive and be an A Plus experience to everyone who plays it.

Risks and challenges
Because this is a small project and also our sixth Kickstarter campaign, we anticipate minimal risk. For <A Plus>, we will follow the same production model we used to successfully produce <Kung Pao Chicken>, printing the game in US and ensuring that backers of the Christmas 2018 pledge levels receive <A Plus> before Christmas.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
