Kiss The Wave will be the 4th in my series of spiritual memoir / essays. If you've read any of my books, this is where the story continues.
I describe my previous books like this:
1. Here's to Hindsight: Letters to My Former Self - "God likes you. He has a good plan for your life."
2. Crowded Skies: Letters to Manhattan - "He does? Awesome! How do I figure that plan out?"
3. Orange Jumpsuit: Letters to the God of Freedom - "Okay, so I followed that plan, but I didn't get what I want. And now I'm angry with God about it. I don't like this plan."
Orange Jumpsuit, my last book, covered the hardest time of my life, my “dark night of the soul.” I was emotionally laid bare, God felt absent, and I couldn't seem to keep my head above water. I wrote angry. I wrote aching.
But the years between then and now were years of restoration. God pursued me with His arms full of compassion and gentleness and generosity. I want to write a book that reflects the light He has brought into my life since that time of darkness.
This book is a celebration. I want to tell you personal stories that I pray will bring joy, hope, and a richer intimacy to your own relationship with the God who loves you deeply, the God who is "a rewarder of those who seek Him" (Hebrews 11:6).
If you and I make this Kickstarter thing happen, I will plan to write during Dec 2013 - Feb 2014, and release the book in May 2014. I can't wait to get this book into your hands! :)
Risks and challenges
NOW: You may know this already, but the way that Kickstarter works is that we have to meet the full $8,000 in pledges, or none of the money gets drafted from anyone's accounts. So the main obstacle is reaching the entire goal by the deadline.
LATER: I need to get alone for the better part of 6-8 weeks to write this book. I write best if I seclude myself from people for large chunks of time, which is kind of sad. But in the past, this has always been a time where I've felt deeply connected to the community of believers who pray for me during this process. I hope you'll be a part of that community as well!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
